Rank Reset Sucks Bad

I ended last season as Gold 2. Was Gold 1 but dropped to 2.

This season started me off all the way down at the absolute bottom in Bronze 3. It already took me a long time to get out of Bronze last season because of the mix of genuinely brand new players, veterans who have been playing since the beta came out, and Overwatch GM+ players.

I am now getting the exact same experience again. I have played 6 comp matches and have lost every single one, most of them hard stomps.
I am constantly getting teammates that obviously were nowhere near my rank at the end of last season, they most likely weren't even playing then. They have absolutely no idea what they're doing, no idea how to play any character, and are dying like 13 times in the span of ten minutes. Any time I try to say anything to them they get pissed and act like I'm the reason we're losing instead.

While the enemy teams keep getting people who most likely ended last season as Diamond+, know exactly what they're doing and know exactly how to play every character.

This is awful. If this is going to be the comp experience every single time then something needs to be changed here because this sucks.

if it makes you feel better, plat and gold are currently full of hardstuck diamond apes who coinflipped their way into gm3 with less than 10 SR/LP or a negative winrate and never queued an actual game in grandmaster elo, instead they just camped their spot because there's no SR/LP decay in gm. it's so funny to farm them during my climb rn tho

When everyone starts at the same point early on yea, as the season progresses no. People rise ranks and the player base spreads out. So: early on yes, later no.

Yeah, i mean, qp matches suck utter richard rn too. I get that last season was pretty inflated in terms of ranks, but damn, now it feels like garbo, maybe it's because it's the start of the season, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

No i don't find it odd it's called luck of the draw. Considering I am in solo queue the game is new and just in general people love to troll or actively have main character syndrome there is not much else to do. I am seeing like this i have had games on duelist where i had over 22k damage and 30 downs 4 deaths with 21 final hits and we lost. I have had game where i healed 18k+ and we lost. I have had game where i was a vanguard and controlling the zone and being front line like most of them should and lost.

One person can only do so much. So no your condescending wannabe elitist remark is a joke. I know I am not the best player in the game and no I am not hard stuck i will climb out like i always do. However the fact still stands what has been stated is true and has been in every game that does ranking like this. Competitive modes breed toxic people and toxic minds then when people point out issue with this or the off match making it's always get good or look at me i am better then you etc. Grow up maybe touch some grass and calm down.
I am was gold last season and if I wasn't dealing with my net being awful I would have been higher. However hurricane helene screwed everything here and well having internet for 12 days out of 30 still now is a pain.

I gotta agree man, the matchmaking in this game is dogwater. Last season I got to Plat with like a 70-80% win rate and this season I can't even get out of silver because my teammates can't do anything especially if they're playing DPS, just getting a huge DPS diff even if I'm playing tank. Our dps would have around 10-15 elims while their dps has like 25-30 and almost twice the damage. I don't understand how most of the games are just hard stomps like pub lobbies.

This needs to be talked about non stop. That reset was sht. I went from new player to 20 points away from plat 2 in under 20 hours with a very high win percentage and mained thor most of the way with like a 70% win rate. No matter how good you are you CANNOT carry 5 other players who dont know wtf is even going on.

my main problem with matchmaking is that it follows the same framework as EA games. The moment you have a good day of winning matches, the next day you will lose all of them. It purposely puts you in unbalanced matches to keep you grinding for longer. It doesn't matter how good you are, you will lose a match because its impossible to carry so many ppl.

while i agree that it seems the matchmaking system doesn't really take into account ranks of previous season so the balancing is kinda flippy, getting out of bronze is easy? i literally played my first game ever 4 days ago and i'm silver 2 after some games... if you stayed stuck in bronze maybe it is your level or like silver top? it's not shameful though.
