Although I admit, if he can disable characters that might not be fun. But it's also a big thing that telepaths generally can do with their abilities.
Where are crazy heroes like Apocalypse, Red Skull, Deadpool, Sinister or whatever... some Strategists should be able to heal by just giving commands or joking around. Its not like Marvel is known for producing healers - everyone is a duelist/vanguard.
From commanders Cyclops could be a Strategist because he was a team leader and he is a one-trick pony with his ability. Not that I want him but guy is more popular than this
most-of-the-time cripple Xavier.
(He is healed ATM in comics?)
Xavier is at least a big character in the franchise. Easily on par with Megneto and seeing as they're rivals in the X-Men franchise, as well as friends and allies on occasions.
They could have picked more characters most people wouldn't have a clue about instead, which I would would have been worse... or pick ones that are generally disliked in general like Captain Marvel, ect. who I do expect them to add eventually in the future, even though her comics don't sell and get rebooted all the time, her toys always sit on sale and go clearance, and her last movie was a complete failure. I'd take Kamala Khan ( Ms Marvel ) over her because her actor at least made the character look fun in that movie.
Yeah... and thats why everyone I know liked Magneto more... along with entire Brotherhood of Mutants.
Jean Grey should be one too, not another duelist. They shouldn't bring her in as the Phoenix either. She literally performed a supportive role 90% of the time. If they want to bring in the Phoenix, do it as an ultimate.
They probably did it more to make her easier to be distinct from Professor X in a sense, since they are both telepaths.
Also might be a popularity situation perhaps? Do people prefer normal Jean or Phoenix?
Besides Dead Pool, I really hope Morph gets in. I like how he preformed in the new XMen 97 bit. Where he could copy abilities in it and not just be an appearance change.

Morph could also turn into potential mutant's that they can't make playable too if you think about it. Kind of like how he did that too in the new XMan 97 show. They clearly wanted more to showcase, but opped to have him turn into them even though they weren't present.
