Lol, OW was released in 2016 on Battle.Net. Almost a decade before it ever appeared on Steam as afterthought and last effort to lure more players to naturally dying game.

I mean overwatch in 2016 launch had 7 million players and in few months reached almost 30 million players. Not to mention it wasn't free, it was 59.99. And, actually, the game was good and a finished game, not like rivals, which is like alpha version. Anyways, those Naraka Bladepoint/Rivals numbers/Chinese numbers are always bs. Just ask your tiny village in China to log in out of 1.5 billion to inflate player number just like in Naraka Bladepoint, which is also netease game, add some bot accounts in the game, just like in Naraka and you have 500k or whatever the number you want. More accurate number would be dividing player numbers by 10, then you would somewhat closer stats.
This is like Indians who create disaster movies, then entire nation log into all review sites to rate their movies 10/10 and say: "look, Hollywood. we make amazing movies''. Yeah, right.
It is a simple trick to create the illusion that even the biggest ♥♥♥♥ is good and if you fell for that bs, well....

Overwatch had around 10 million peak players back in the days of OW1 when it first launched in 2016. Yawn.

Overwatch 2 had 25 million players in its first few weeks. There were so many players you had a queue of 40,000 in line to login in the first week of launch.
