People quitting is definitely a bummer, but on the flipside if you were steam rolling the other team then they likely would not have quit. I think I only lost about 2 games when I first started playing comp yesterday. Lost one from a Dc and the other just by simply losing it, but I won 15 out of 17 games and got to gold in just a couple hours. If you just lock in your main role then mute your team and carry you wont have any issues. I just instant locked dps every game and almost never lost. even if 3 others on the team picked a dps i still stayed one. Find the role you can carry best on and just carry. I usually get highest ranks in mosts games playing dps so thats the role I feel best on, but find yours and you will win more. Cant win every game but as long as you win more than lose you will rank up. Biggest mistake I see from low rank players in every game is them being toxic. I promise if you just mute the toxic people, dont argue with your team, and just focus on your own gameplay then you will rank up. Doesnt matter if someone else on your team is doing bad just think about what you can do better. Not every game is winnable but most are carryable if you play it right. As you get to higher ranks people are generally more willing to work as a team in most games. Even in the highest of ranks you will still sometimes get 4 instant lock dps that wont switch it just happens less often.
Yea this was also something I forgot to say, in Overwatch it always felt like any "good" person could carry their team at least somewhat to get to overtime or even winning the Match, regardless of their role. Here in MR I don't have this feeling at all... It feels like everything is the same. In Overwatch people always did this switching of Characters to counter some other Character on the other team, this doesn't seem to happen in MR.
Every Game is the same Characters and nobody ever switches.
Sadly I am in my mid 30s and don't have the time to "get good" in most games anymore. But I try to at least reach Gold. But I'm already thinking of switching back to Overwatch and other Games, because this Matchmaking is ridiculous. The 3-ish Hours in Quick Match (to reach level 10) felt more like Competitive than Competitive did. In Quick Match people actually played Tank and Support, Games were tough but fun and in the 25 Games I've played we've won 15.
Now switching to Competitive I played 7 and won 1 but 5 of these were because people quit/afk, Everyone is playing DPS and I am solo Support. And it's not like the other team was better, everyone is around level 10-20 and everyone is the same rank Bronze III. It's just not fun.
But if you get leaver at let's say, conquest after losing first round, game still continues and losing team will get full losing penalty regardless. That shouldn't be happening.
If issue is that premades would abuse this system, then make every player in premade take penalty aswell (losing points for others, leaver getting timeout). Solo players shouldn't be taking any penalties from having a teammate leaving games and causing losses.
Played two games, both had leavers.
Beside, season 0 end in 20 hours or so.
QuickPlay is much better experience right now. Sure there still are one sided matches, but I don't think any cheater would risk their account in quickplay. So there's that.
