Why does the game change regions seemingly randomly?

It last happened two weeks ago so I forgot about it, but for the 4th or 5th time now the game changed regions without my input, lost a game in the process of realising it again.

you can chose what servers you want to matchmake on. for example i on EU by default get either frankfurt or warshaw. but i can choose to remove the check on warshaw to get better ping.

I chose the EU regions and the game changed it to the Asian/Australian regions yesterday.
The last time it happened the regions were changed to the America ones.
The problem is that the game did the change by itself.

I've had this happening as well. I play on NA, but randomly it swaps to Asian servers.

Not sure and it seems to reset constantly as well.
