Is GM really the Top 1 percent?

Really trying not to do a "humble brag" or anything but I recently got into GM3 and I just feel like the player quality isn't that high despite the rank being "above 99% of players". Is this an actual true stat?

I don't even think I had to sweat very hard to get to GM. I filled for the most part. Won many games where I would first time play a character (in diamond).

Maybe most of the playerbase is just playing quickplay?

yeah, the game is fresh and most of the people didn't bother trying to climb just yet. Gm is super easy to get atm but it will be harder later.

Skill and knowledge are unfortunately two different things. Raw skill can over come stupidity.
