In terms of player experience, absolutely not, especially when you consider they have to hide bots among players in order to achieve and maintain that 50%..

It's a system that's nothing more than a marketing tool attempting to masquerade as a matchmaking system

Every hero shooter I have seen till now forces the 50/50 rule. I guess mainly its because it is easy to implement. But I have seen good games falling down to the ground just because of this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ matchmaking system. Paladins had around 100K active players playing once. Now it barely has 1k players. I am not saying its just the matchmaking, but it is definitely the big part which decides how much fun multiplayer pvp can be. The game died because when you win too many games because you are decently good at it, they will put you in a team of new players. So that you can lose pathetically even when trying your best. At other times when you start losing a bunch, they will put you with more experienced players or stacked team such that you can sit in spawn and still you could win the game. So even if you are a really good player, with good win ratio, if you play solo you will get matched against stacked teams or experienced players. Where you will literally get 6v1 d and they will bully you. The best thing to do is to leave the game early or start stacking with others for sanity.
