False reporting question

Do people get ban for false reporting. I seen streamers say they reporting people throwing for players playing characters like rocket. And do the devs ever investigate the reports or use a bot?

I play Rocket a bunch and have had the few rage filled folk that say they are gonna report, blah, blah, blah. I've never been banned or put on a time out. I mean it's a character put in the game by the game devs. How they gonna ban someone just for picking a character they put in the game?

Also have had people legit get offended if they see Rocket get MVP. Makes me laugh.

I can't speak specifically to Marvel Rivals, but I worked enforcement for an MMO dev once upon a time and we definitely issued penalties for consistent false reporting. This was particularly true of brigading/mass reporting. That might have worked for a few weeks once on Warframe 10 years ago, but few devs are that lazy about their enforcement anymore. If tripping an autoban were possible on a game anymore, word gets out about it fast.

They already autobanned players for false cheating lmao.

Not the same thing. tl;dr = anticheat had a bad flag in it. Nowhere near the fiasco Warframe's attempt was. @_@

Sure but i still know tons of games that will ban you with mass reports..... especially the non cheating ones. Even league does this lmao.

You can try all day if you want, but there's no way to get autobanned here. You gotta actually do something to get banned.

Some players don't like that Rocket lacks a healing-based ultimate and don't understand how effective CYA is when timed appropriately. Another reason cited is the lack of burst healing.

nope.
I've false reported a few times by accident and never got any consequences from it.

BUT reports do seem to be manually reviewed to some degree because MOST of those accidental false reports I never got a message for saying so-and-so was restricted from matchmaking.
(there was a couple though that I accidentally reported that I did get notices about; I recall feeling bad about it. that was like 2 out of 7 though or somethin like that)

It's definitely a mix. I've supposedly been reported on something like 6 different occasions by squads and never been banned but then you also have my previous reply.

Most don't require any action, and not even close to every player is filing a report every day. Generally speaking, at least. I couldn't tell you what MR's numbers are. I'm pretty sure it's an in-house department. That's all I'm sure of though.

Your entitled to your opinion as i am aswell. Theres just no way on planet earth someone didn't get punished over a false report which i will admit, i do report people for throwing aswell because picking dps into a team that has 4 dps 1 tank.... in my honest opinion is a throw.

If you just made a mistake a couple of times, I doubt anyone would do anything about that. But if you were constantly going at it for a while, then maybe?

IDK how MR does it, but we'd just take action against the mass reporting whenever we ran into it. It wasn't as bad in my time because streaming wasn't anywhere near as popular. (I worked from 2010-2013) Streaming ruined a lot of things wrt competitive environments. @_@

But we definitely did not automate anything enforcementwise, because we knew it'd be gamed the second it was discovered. Warframe's approach to automated enforcement only cemented that view. On Warframe, for the longest time, it was something of a joke to try and get newbies to type the words "Nezha" and "trap" on the same post, so that the in-game chatbot would ban them for two weeks. (Long story.)

About the only automation here is from the anticheat. It seems to do 24-hour bans on suspicion of cheating sometimes. But I certainly doubt autoban would ever happen as a matter of false reporting -- that'd definitely require review, and a long pattern of abusing the report system.

...okay, sure, you can have your opinion? But mine's based on experience. I worked customer support for a live-service title. This was part of my job. XD That's all!

Who do you even report for a 1-4-1, all four DPS? Or just the bottom two?
