I'm in currently celestial and just yesterday someone in the pre-pick page already yelled:
"If you lock raccoon, I'll throw".
Teammates tried to be reasonable, saying everyone should just play their best and nothing is wrong with raccoon.
Since raccoon stayed to his pick, that fella picked widow and indeed threw the game.
At the end when people asked for a report for throwing in all chat, quoting what he said in pre-pick phase, he was desperately lying that he did not do such a thing.
What a pathetic human waste.
You would think those kind of players are sorted out with higher ranks, but not at all.
Bronze to Gold are iPad kids and fortnite failures, Platinum is full of one trick petty spite lords, Diamond is pretty much the same as Platinum except people learned to switch to the only other character they're good at, and GM+ is where people actually play the game the way it was made.
My GM games have been way better than my Diamond games.
May be a regional thing as I play EU but there is a massive difference here imo. Better teamwork, better communication, more skilled people etc. Only time we really lost was simply due to being outmatched which happens sometimes.
Every other time things didn't go smooth, we communicated the issues and fixed them which lead to a win. That barely happend in Diamond games as people were more selfish in there.
You can be GM/Cel with a 42% overall winrate so A LOT of people are able to get into the higher ranks and thats also when you stop gaining so much ranked points because in the earlier ranks you get much more for winning than losing but it starts to fall off near those ranks so a lot of players are stuck from all sorts of skill levels. Diamond feels like this games gold
The game is still kind of new so everything is still all over the place but one thing I noticed is that when I was in GM it had some of the worst players you can get because of their poor game play and attitude
The games stats system is also terrible because what really is the difference between elims and assists?
Bucky can solo kill 5 people and be at 5 elimination
Another DPS can shoot someone for only 50 dmg and it counts as an elim
Next thing you know the other DPS has more elims but isn't contributing as much as bucky
Yet i have seen people flame the bucky because of how useless the stats are. The only thing that matters is damage deaths and final hits. Any namor turret can just shoot someone for 25 dmg and have it count as a elim
And that's why so many ill-behaved people end up in Plat, probably.
I agree on the scoreboard. The higher you go the only players that really get "ace" are the dps players and it's really a entirely separate system from what actually has impact.
We're back to the whole "I'm gold dps" problem OW had in season 1. Meanwhile, he's just been shooting the tanks all game in the foot on Punisher.
You can do incredibly subtle things in this game that hard carry morons and the system will never reflect this. Rocket amping a bad Magneto ball, yet the whole team praises the 0 charge Mag ult because it gets 2 kills is a good example. Another would be A mantis player giving damage boost to an other wise garbage 7 game loss streak widow who is now a super carry in your game. Using the Thing's jump to save a dps from an Magneto ult, blocking a hel ult with strange, etc. etc. etc.
These are all gigantic plays that no one cares about, nor even notices. Because the game gives more incentive to a Spiderman hitting Q in the middle of 6 people and getting 3 kills. Even though the ult was braindead and it took a Mag shield, a Cloak Blind, and a double pocket on reaction for him to not turbo throw.
...but makes the Cash register ring
In the next few days I'm going to work on optimizing crosshairsfor each character. Did it for Cloak & Dagger already, and the difference has been night and day. I've gone from getting scolded for "missing with auto-aim" to confidently hitting most of my shots.
If people are going to throw, you can't stop them. I just don't want to become a player people THINK is throwing just because I have a bad game every now and then or can't confidently role swap.
I honestly can't tell the difference between D2 and up unless the player is exceptional. And even then there are exceptional players in mid GM that just haven't grinded enough matches out in Solo Q
The average level of play in this game, even in the highest ranks, is just really really low
100%. The stats are just awful and the fact people play spiderman pyslocke etc just to easily press Q with sometimes 0 counter play is just aids. Love the game but the dive heroes are literally playing a whole other game
