Compiling Shaders= Hot CPU
Hey All,

I got a Ryzen 9 9950x
Phantom spirit cooler

Everytime I have to compile shaders my cpu temps go over my cut off which is set to 90c and can be around 108c if my computer doesn't shut down. Is there any solution to this?

Hello!

Would like to know what is going on too.

9800X3D
Noctua NH-D15 G2 (AMD edition)

CPU CCD1 (Tdie) and CPU (Tctl/Tdie) (monitored with HWINFO) temperature went to 96.9C during first time shader compilation and goes up to 92C with subsequent ones.
By AMD the 95C is the limit.

During stress test CPU stays below 75C.

If somebody was able to fix it, please let us know!

Thank you in advance!
No, graphic shaders are compiled on CPU. This is done to prevent stuttering during gameplay, where shaders would be compiled on-the-fly by CPU.

Most games will use 100% CPU to compile it as fast as possible.

You could try to set lower thermal throtling limit in BIOS to stay below 90*C.

Also enabling Windows 8 compatibility on game's main EXE file might limit power on some CPUs, seems like a Windows bug though.

You could also check if there are some power and current limiting options for CPU in BIOS, but I'm not familiar with AMD platform.
