They really want you to spend over $20 on a Skin.
It will always be bannable. You'll likely be marked for unusual game data and be flagged as cheating, since you would be attempting to alter/circumvent the game files.
$18 is also way too much. No cosmetic should cost the price of a whole ass game.
When I bought the Master of the Sun skin I spent exactly $16 (plus state tax of course)
If the game was paid I would agree. Hell even a couple years ago I would have agreed, but inflation is a thing and many players will only buy 1-2 skins because they only play a couple characters.
And that 18 does get you a skin, nameplate, emote, and spray. It's only like 14 if you want just the skin (typically; obviously there's some exceptions and fluctuations)
Stop using inflation as an excuse. There are more people playing games now than there ever were.
Cosmetics cost this much because they've specifically designed the game to be subsidized by whales who are psychologically vulnerable to this kind of spending.
