Stuttering/Freezing/Lagging since patch causes & ideas
It seems like there’s two overlapping issues:
1. Horrifically sluggish camera movement plus stutter, lag etc. you may struggle to even leave spawn. For me totally disabling frame generation immediately mostly or completely fixed this issue. It’s a little hard to tell because….

2. The stutter/freeze every 9 to 19 seconds. This doesn’t seem to have anything to do with performance. It appears that the game process is sexually harassing something called powershell vigorously. And this causes the game to hang every time it does.

Which also strains your pc further thus exacerbating point 1.

On windows disabling your antivirus may help. On Linux it seems like you can go into the game files and put power shell into witness protection (by changing its name) so marvel rivals can’t send unsolicited The Thing pics anymore.

Hope that maybe helps someone. I’m on steam deck personally.

As far I've checked via the CPU monitor the stutter problem may be connected with the CPU core switching. One core of the CPU is always at 100% in the game, unknown why. The game runs smothly at this point but the moment this exact overloaded CPU Core unloads to other core and the other CPU Core takes the load to 100% a stutter occurs. The CPU performance for the game is weird - one CPU core is at 100% load always, the rest (15 in my case) at 30-40% load.
Checked with other much more intensive CPU/GPU games, but there CPU core overloading barely touches 70% load.

Well from what I understand when you’re in a match one thing the powershell is doing is pinging cpu usage repeatedly, and since it’s clearly busted somehow maybe that explains what you’re seeing.

I've tested in Practice Range and the stutter is there. In matches the stutter is just far more intensive.
That why i always turn off anti virus. Also it always try to update.

Yeah by “in match” I meant co-op, practice range, ranked etc etc. As long as the match is in progress it’s doing that process over and over.
I saw no improvement after turning off my antivirus sadly but thanks for the tip
Yeah I tried pretty much everything on the internet to fix this other than renaming my powershell.exe since im on windows.. pretty sure its something related to the game calling for some kind of background process every 10-20 seconds which gives me the FPS drop.. its def not my hardware or internet.. Cant even play like this ...

Yeah I don’t think you should rename that when on windows.
Okej have been working on this since last night. just now found a fix that works for me. Im on linux though so dont know if this will work on windows.

First set proton Compatility to "Proton Hotfix"
then add this (this might work on windows) to the Launch Options: DXVK_ASYNC=1 PROTON_VK_PRESENT_MODE=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command%

Thanks for sharing! Do you think I could try that on steam deck also?
