Try check out your \steamapps\common\MarvelRivals\MarvelGame\Marvel\Content\Paks
folder for any mods like a ~mods folder or something, I deleted it but I don't know if that helped with the solution or not.
When you get the "crash has occurred" message
1 If it attempts a download let it finish
2 Delete any mods or configs you've added to the game at any point
3 Verify Files in Steam
4 Open the Launcher again but DON'T start the game
5 Close the launcher then close Steam
6 Then try launching the game like normal
Someone also reported that the workaround for avoiding the "Run as Administrator" popup fixed it for them:
Right click Rivals in Steam > Properties > General > Launch options and enter:
cmd /min /C "set __COMPAT_LAYER=RUNASINVOKER && start "" %command%"
This solution I'm about to tell y'all should work for those using GeForce to play the game ,and I don't know for those using the steam app on PC windows because I didnt tested the problem on PC. Step 1, when the rig is open, Right click the blue stop button from the steam game as fast as possible. Step 2, right click the context menu > Properties > Privacy > Delete the In-Game Overlay Data twice or 3x. Step 3 : Relaunch the game.
Y'all tell me if it worked
(if it worked, do the same thing everytime you play the game.)
