The ban system needs to be monitored when you report a smurf by a human rather than it being a bot. And don't get me started on content creators who make smurfs.
It will reduce it, but won't stop it. People can just use other numbers, I feel like a smurf only queue or ban from competitive will work better.
I think a lot of people forget that RANKED is not supposed to be a roguelite run where you try to reach Eternity as fast as possible and then make a new account to try for a better time; it's about being put in a league where you can actually be CHALLENGED by other players of your skill level. If that isn't fun for you, why play ranked at all? QP has no skill-based matchmaking, you're free to stomp as many noobs as you want there.
The second problem comes in when you consider that it is ruining the experience for other players who WANT to be matched up against players of a similar skill level. Imagine you've just hit level 10, and want to climb into the lowest levels in ranked to try and throw your minimal knowledge at the wall.
Only to your dismay, the enemy team is comprised of 3 smurfs who have all reached GM or Eternity on another tag, and three ACTUAL bronze players.
What is supposed to be a free for all between inexperienced players trying to get a feel for how the competitive atmosphere works, has turned into a one sided relentless genocide.
Your takeaway from this experience will likely be "This game ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks, how am I supposed to do anything when THIS is what Bronze is like???"
Whether or not you agree that this IS a problem is not what I'm here to tell you.
I'm telling you that this is WHY people THINK it is a problem.
