Is it just me or smurfs ruining PVP
I'm no god definitely not but I am solid mid rank and god I am so tired of ending up in games especially in ranked with smurfs who create alt's just because they don't want to play in their own ranked.

can't wait to hear all of the smurfs say get good but if this continues which I am sure is going to be a permanent issue hopefully can be lessened at some point down the line.

5 straight games of smurfs and then same guy was in my games the last 3 in a row of those went 59-1-34

Smurfs exist in pretty much every competitive game out there, but there are games that are kinda successful in beating the smurfs out like Rainbow 6's high level rank requirement, LoL and Dota's playing time requirement and high trust games like fighting games like Tekken and SF6 which uses player reputation systems.

This game needs to increase its level requirement to access rank or add a playing time restriction to deter smurfing.

They’re not all Smurfs. I made a post a week ago about it. I was in platinum at the time and I usually play healer. One game I decided to go DPS. And I ended up being 44:3.

I guarantee you they thought I was Smurfing when I wasn’t. This is because we don’t have role queue and I don’t believe people are the same skill on one role as another. So when they have to play one they’re not the best at, their rank is inaccurate.

So maybe as a healer, I should’ve been in platinum but as a DPS I should’ve been in diamond or higher. If you feel like you’re in a lower rank then you should be, play Tank or DPS.

A great healer healing a mediocre DPS makes that great healer mediocre. Meaning the healer is only as strong as their tanks and DPS are.

Personally, I have no desire to smurf, but I have no strong opinions against it. You’re just as likely to get one on your team as you are to getting one on the other side. The way I see it, you could at the very least get valuable firsthand replays of what they do to be successful, and use that to improve your game. Also, for EOMM reasons, the game will pair eternity players down with metal ranked players, in order to create intentionally lopsided matchups. It’s just a thing that happens in pvp games, I suppose…

Edit: I am more opposed to smurfs in games like WoW, where the difference in gear means that you’ll never win. But in games like MR, where the only difference is skill, not so much.

im at gold 3 and have no desire to play comp except on rare occasion. I could easily rank up way past this but lets say i play a comp one day and your on the receiving end does that mean i smurfed. NO i just built all my knowledge and skill in QP
I mainly want to play with friends and thats why I smurf.
QM is just REALLY unfun.

On a side note, Celestial has A LOT of cheaters.
I got to Celestial 2 and just kept running into cheaters who still aren't banned.

Not the mention much like smurfs
Cheaters duo, so there's a sadistically less chance you get them on your team.

I've said it before - you know they're smurfs when their worst player is better than your entire team combined. Funny thing is - they hate being called out on it. Just accept it!

I don't
I have too much of an ego to be called hardstuck plat, diamond or GM.
Smurfs are particularly bad in this game. I played 4 games in gold the other day and 2 of them had smurfs. One talked to us about it, said he was a GM on his main account. He hard carried, yep.

GM smurfs are horridous at the game though
You got to understand me as 1 celestial smurf beat a 3 team of smurfs which ima assuming were gm3.

Well, that guy did great, but I will say we did hard pocket him, and we had a good solid comp that I would have had great confidence in anyway. Even if he had not been a smurf, pocketing him would have been the plan.

Smurfing is like a kid discovering he can burn ants in the summer with a magnifying glass. Then he goes and gets a bigger glass with more ants to fry next summer.
He's the guy who peaked in high school, i assume.

The only true way is to have one account per ip, registered officially, and/or pay for the game. The latter I think would eliminate the skin cash grab's. I'd rather have paid for the game once and be done and earn my way up. And smurfers hate paying twice.

Those solutions work, but are draconian, and possibly not advised.

An easier solution with less downsides is just to make what you have to do with an account to get into comp a giant pain in the ass. Like, instead of level 10, it's level 25, and you have to have several captain ranks in every role. That's a hassle but once you do it with a real account you're done forever.

Maybe like you said, "less" downsides, but taking OW as an example, Comp players smurf for fun so it gets annoying, too. They started banning smurf accounts somehow, idk how they do it.
i wouldnt say theyre ruining it cause they arent that prevalent but they are def annoying asf even when i get them on my team i feel like i won unfairly
