Rocket Raccoon Hate.

So I wanted to ask here, why is he so hated?

I'm RR main, I'm in Diamond 2. And the amount of insults, slurs, and death threats I've gotten is insane. ALL because I dared to pick this character and play it.
I'm flexible Strat/Vang player, but I love Rocket because I simply love his character. It's my main. I always play to best of my ability and try to win. Yet somehow, Me switching to Luna, which I played like 1h will save the team?

Rocket isn't bad support, he just isn't having safety net as others supports in terms of ultimate. BUT he can out-damage other defensive ultimates with his.

Why is this character so hated?

honestly i think it's ease of use and i know people would rather have a jeff or loki with 18-20 hours than a rocket with 3-4 hours(oh and the dreaded "zero damage rocket")

Zero Damage rocket is a troll, and that guy who made it popular, just fcked entire community. Awful thing.

I think it's 3 factors:

1. A couple of popular streams seem to have a grudge against him and said he was bad.
2. Mercy effect, people view him as low skill.
3. People badly overestimate the value of defensive ults and don't think healers with no defensive ult have any value.

His res is can change teamfights, but people simply refuse to even acknowledge it. I never played OW so don't know about Mercy part lol.

And yes, there were alot of vocal streamers saying RR is bad etc. Which is weird as hell, but oh well... It's just sad that it's gotten to point you get death threats for wanting to play X character.

Not only for playing a character, but playing the character with the highest winrate in the category!

Meanwhile, pick Cloak and Dagger, the one with the lowest winrate in high rank, and nobody will blink an eye.

Rocket is potentially the best support in the game right now. Him only getting a 5% healing boost instead of a 15% like the other keystone team-ups hints at it as well. He can keep up your whole team at once better than any other support right now and his Ult can turn around fights, as long as your team-mates can actually aim at least.

A couple of... low quality opinions from twitch streamers.

And of course that "NoDamageRocket" guy hitting eternity really didn't help.

I also think its a lack of gameplay understanding, most players have no idea what anything they don't play is doing, so they see amplifier for an ult and are like "bro he has no utility", and the E is right there.

As a reference point when i stat checked a friend (were both Cel2), i have roughly the same number of revives on rocket as he does on warlock, kinda insane.

He is easy to play, has a rez beacon that also produces armor and a jet boost, an ultimate that provides 50% extra damage, yet somehow 99% of people playing him are garbage.
That's why Rocket is hated. All of the so-called "Rocket mains" would be more valuable to their team playing Cloak and Dagger because most of you are terrible at the game.

If that was the case, Jeff wouldn't be almost universally loved by gamers. This is unique to Rocket and the terrible people that somehow screw up playing as him.

1. He is bad, he has 1 ability and it's okay but not game winning at anything less than GM
2. He is incredibly low skill, he has one skill a primary and secondary fire, and 90% of players don't use him primary.
3.Defensive ults are literally game changing, Rockets ult is situational and needs to counter ult defensive ones, but it requires some semblance of communication which the majority of metal rank rocket players don't have.

Over all rocket is girlfriend pick, it's easy to get carried and be useful enough that you'll get to upper plat low diamond just holding right click even if you can't aim but 90% of players are uselss on him and don't play him right. So it's well deserved.

I would like to see the troll characters just be banned in ranked all together Rocket shouldn't even be a selectable ranked character knowing how it's being used right now on bot accounts to climb because it's a 50/50.

1. It brings people back to life every 50 seconds. It's basically Warlock's ult, but better most of the time. It's absolutely game changing.

2. That is absolutely not true about the primary fire, nearly all Rocket players shoot and it's not uncommon for them to get as many kills as the other support.

3. Defensive ults are overrrated. The four top winrate supports are Rocket, Mantis, Adam, and Loki. That's two characters without a defensive ult, the worst of the defensive ults, and Loki only has a defensive ult if he can copy it off someone else. IMO defensive ults often just result in a stall, and don't actually get much done. Besides, defensive ults are frequently burned to just save one person, which is what Rocket gets for free every 50s.

But that's four of them, literally half the heal roster. CND, Rocket, Adam, and Mantis don't need to aim to heal.

....I hate Adam and C&D too... but this thread is about Rocket, so I was talking about Rocket.
