What's with all the forced losing streaks?

I just get these huge runs of unwinnable trash games, over and over. It's so bad my winrate is dropping before 45% even with the bot games. But I never seem to get better matchmaking and I never seem to drop in MMR so I don't get easy opponents ever. All I get is losing streaks and some periods of 50% winrate.

What do I do? I'm not playing worse than I used to. It feels like either my team's full of lobotomized idiots and/or the other team is some kind of cracked pros.

If you're about where you belong in terms of rank, things get pretty chaotic since you can no longer carry. In a fair match, it only takes one player playing bad to lose a game, and with 5 other players on your team, there's a decent chance of one of them playing bad.

The best answer is just don't sweat it too much, just focus on doing the best you can.

Today I had a spiderman that got literally 0 final hits the whole match; it's no wonder we lost, even though we barely did.
I've been getting so many bot games recently because of players like this.

I would guess the issue is instead that the matchmaker doesn't realize quite how good the celestial players are. I'm fairly sure QP and ranked matchmaking is completely separate, so the Celestial player may not have played enough QP to raise their MMR to be quite as high as they have in ranked.

That said, if you're consistently getting like Diamond / GM players in QP, that means your hidden MMR is probably around there, and you are clearly at least beating them sometimes. And it's good practice if nothing else.

It's just so hard to want good games, but get nothing but fed to high ranks for their amusement.

You're still getting them on your team sometimes too. For example, in this game:

The SVP on your team is a Celestial. Your teams also have a fair number of diamond and GM players too. Of course, you never know if these players are on their mains or not.

Anyways, that ignores the greater questions: Why the hell is my gold ass constantly getting fed to Celestial/Eternity players, and why don't I ever derank and get decent games again?

Couldn't tell you. Hidden MMR is just that - hidden. Who knows what factors it uses to adjust your rank after each match? We already know that competitive does consider your performance, so probably QP does as well. It may conclude that even when you're losing, you're still playing fairly well, so maybe you aren't losing much.

I'd just take solace in that at least you're not getting garbage players (I mean sure, maybe sometimes it feels like it, but just step into ranked and you'll immediately remember how bad silver / gold players actually are).

I definitely hate those. I feel like I get MORE of those in high ranks, maybe because the high rank players just don't care about QP wins.

Yeah I've noticed if I ever get a 3 loss streak you just have to take a long break. Even if it didn't affect your mental the game rewards you for taking long breaks from it and if you troll quickplay a few games before ranked. Anytime I play for a full day I will hover a 50% wr, but if I just play 4-5 matches I will be around 75% very consistently and climb faster
