10-Year Ban for Using Overlay "Creating a toxic atmosphere" instead of "Using third-party programs"

My account in Marvel Rivals was banned until 2034 due to "toxic behavior" and "using third-party software."

I don’t use the chat or interact with other players, but I repeatedly received notifications about "toxic behavior."
I was being disconnected from matches with "penalties for leaving," even though I wasn’t leaving games.
Ultimately, my account was banned for "using third-party software," which I have never used.
After extensive investigation, I discovered that the issue was caused by the Steelseries GG overlay, which triggered false positives in the game’s protection system. Once I disabled the overlay, the errors stopped, but my main account remains banned, and the ban is irreversible.

Marvel Rivals’ protection system has critical flaws, unfairly punishing honest players and causing permanent account losses.

Resolved

Through trial and error, and after the ban of two accounts, it was discovered that the anti-cheat is triggered by the program:
Process Hacker — a free open-source utility for monitoring system processes and services running on 32-bit and 64-bit Windows operating systems.

I was helped to figure it out, and I did indeed violate the rules. Adjusting the game's volume in a third-party program was already a breach of the rules and agreements. Fair enough.

However, the issue still exists. When using third-party programs, the notification says "Creating a toxic atmosphere" instead of "Using third-party programs," which can be misleading.

Why did I create this thread?

1. There is an error in informing the user about the imposed penalties.
2. Technical support couldn't explain why I was receiving penalties for two days.
3. Technical support only provided the reason after the ban and sees no issue with this.
4. To warn other players to be more cautious: if you receive a notification about toxic gameplay, it’s possible that you’ll be banned for 10 years in two days.

A question for you: if you believe I am guilty and technical support is right, do you really think a cheater would contact technical support before being banned? Would they expose themselves and send support a file that collected all the information about their system?

If you do make a new account and all that jazz I suggest not using that overlay; there is no reason to.

It's primarily for recording video clips and you can do that with OBS, Steam, Gamebar, or the Nvidia App. The game not only creates a highlight each match that you have the option of saving, but you can also go back through your match history and watch any match replay from any character's perspective.

This reinforces my long held belief that people need to not use unnecessary 3rd party software when software they are already using has the same features.

Fathom getting banned for realistically nothing and then trying to gaslight someone about the products they buy and use that DO NOT EFFECT THE GAME that BANNED HIM. Are you even a real person LOL. WHO TF CARES what the software does at the end of the day, he has no advantage, no cheats, but hey, F him for what he bought for a headset before the game came out and is now being punished for it.......absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ daft

I started communicating with technical support at the first signs of errors, two days before the ban, and submitted a ticket to them. Unfortunately, they, like you, insist that the ban is justified and refuse to acknowledge the clear mistake in the anti-cheat system.

Of course, we’ve never had precedents with Denuvo breaking FPS in games. And there’s no way Valorant’s or LoL’s anti-cheat could mess up your system. That doesn’t happen, right?

Hi, thanks for creating the thread, it answers actually a lot of questions for me in so far that I don't need to bother with the game. I'm totally with you that it's a pretty not-nice reason to ban you - and I applaud you for your protest and I totally feel you. However, the ban is completely justified.

Now I'm the kind of guy who reads EULAs and Privacy Policies and is suspicious of anti-cheat software and whatnot. And if you read the EULA and looked at the privacy policy, which is just a drasitcally short off-hand remark, then it should already raise a lot of red flags. But continue further reading on, you guarantee that you don't use any software which does things, which are held perfectly vague to give them a maximum of control. If you are using the windows sound controls to tone down the game volume, you are already in violation of the EULA and if you have any driver software running for anything, especially input devices, you also are in violation of the EULA. You were supposed to read it and supposed to know it before. Not banning people for using volume controls is technically a courtesy, which you are not automatically entitled to. That's the way it is.
Is that a bad policy? Sure! But people vote with their wallets that it should be this way. I won't.

What reasons does he have to lie or misrepresent things? At worst it's "that's a mistake, it's not connected", but hey - we're all people and can make those mistakes. I really don't see why would he deliberately lie about it.
