How to close whispers?

I had a chat whisper from a friend the other day, and now its still listed as a chat channel. Any way to close this?

Usually it goes away after restarting the game, otherwise it just stays there. Not sure how it works. Maybe there's a button when you open the text box to close when tabbed in the whisper.

What I ended up doing was fully disabling them in the settings and then restarting the game
