Am I using Magneto wrong?
He's S Tier on every website I look up but I rarely get any kills. I feel like I do a good job giving my teammates shields but they only last for about 2 seconds, same with the wall that's reminiscent of Reinhart from OW.

Does Magneto need to be in close to get max damage with LB1 and RT2? It feels like his attacks are VERY short range. I also don't understand what the Y button does when you have Scarlet Witch near you.

The problem with Magneto IMO is that he is a very good tank with very good survivability, but hes just boring af to play and does no damage.

Who would you recommend playing as then? My favorite OW characters were Reinhart and Mercy (before they changed her special).

Captain America is a pretty decent tank with a decent moveset, although i think his ult sucks. Wolverine is a pseudo tank and is good at harassing the backline. Venom is probably the best tank in the game right now imo.

He's better as an offtank. He's good at peeling off flankers from your squishy team mates because of his shield and his right click has a big knock back when fully charged. He can also absorb ults with his shield. Hard counters Iron man's ult. His damage isn't bad at least for a tank too as long as you focus their squishiest.

Adam Warlock has the Mercy ult and Dr Strange has a Reinhart shield so probably one of them would be more suited.

He is doing enough damage when you are healed and when everyone is doing their job. This game is just very unbalanced by skill of players and probably filled with cheaters as well (it was since alpha/beta... no surprise there).

Dr. Strange is closer to Reinhardt, he's like a mix between Sigma and Reinhardt. But Dr. Strange is not going to get big kills like Reinhardt because he doesn't have a hammer. You can still enable team kills with your ult, though, just like Reinhardt. Magneto is like Zarya but without Zarya's beam, which means he kind of sucks. Captain America probably closer to Reinhardt in playstyle, his shield is more like Brig's shield than Rein's, but it can reflect projectiles like Genji, and more importantly he is a "Shield up and Charge and kill stuff punching" like Reinhardt, so he's the closest you'll get to Reinhardt's playstyle.

If you want someone who plays close to Mercy, Jeff or Dagger is my choice. Dagger is sort of like a mix between Mercy and Moira. She is a healer in Dagger mode and killer in Cloak mode. She has auto-aim like Moira, and super easy to heal all day long like Mercy. Dagger's normal heal feels a lot like Mercy's heal beam because you basically will never miss and can pocket really well with it. Switch to Cloak and she become Moira with Moira's biotic grasp.

Jeff's water beam is similar to Mercy's tether, but Jeff is a lot deadlier than Mercy and can legit duel and kill enemy DPS and Tank easily and his Ult is team wipe.

Adam Warlock has Mercy's old ult, and ranged, but doesn't play like Mercy at all. Adam Warlock is not a good clutch healer and is closer to Zenyatta, if you like playing Zenyatta Adam Warlock will fit right in, think of him as Zenyatta with a crappy healing orb, a weird chain lighting heal on a long cooldown, and revive on a really long *** cooldown, and Mercy's old ult.

He might be only "that good" with the Scarlet Witch team-up. That gives you a huge sword swing melee attack on use for a while that deals pretty good AoE damage.

Fortunately Scarlet Witch is everywhere since she is one of the best DPS picks especially at low rank, so its' easy to get the team up power.

Your damage is mostly from scarlet witch team up like captain america if you don't have that team up your damage greatly suffers

You forgot about the absolute best part of his kit, soul bond. Put that on your team as it pushes in and negate burst damage for its duration. A Hawkeye arrow that would one shot now gets spread out to everybody then your chain heal puts everyone back up to 100%. Your team is still all up and they now get the chance at least to respond to the Hawkeye or whatever burst damage was coming your way.
