It's gonna happen, for the same reasons it happened in Overwatch. People are gonna get sick of having to sigh and switch over to tank or get rolled. It was better to sit in queue a bit longer and get a good team to DPS on, then play "tank chicken" with your team and either have a grumpy tank who didn't want to play tank or not have one at all.
It's also a much better experience for the supports, who will actually have tanks to heal.
RoleQ will not bring more fun, but it will increase searching time for sure.
the reason role queue was worse for the game because it resulted in two things: Blizzard wanted to curb meta and basically dictate what people played, and you can now no longer switch to what the team needed which for years was a cornerstone of OW's design, if you're in a position where you want to play a dive comp but one of your tanks only play Reinhardt; good job, you're now stuck playing around the limitations of the tank whereas this would not be an issue pre-role queue, someone underperforms as DPS and they want to switch roles? tough luck, no longer possible.
the above basically got so bad that they had to ditch OW and make a 5v5 game mode instead with OW2 because they still couldn't figure out how to balance having two tanks on the team anymore.
forced 2/2/2 is boring, i also don't enjoy queuing up for a specific role because i like to play a bit of everything and role queue just basically means you won't ever get to play DPS unless you like a 20 minute queue (like in the case of Overwatch), if you balance the game and make the heroes fun to play you'll arrive there naturally, of course Rivals is NOT balanced so i understand why people want role queue.
