Jackpot
The only thing people care about is if a game is fun.
I saw you asked for examples in an early post, there's tons of games with "clones" like Monster Hunter; having games such as Dauntless, Toukiden, God Eater, Wild Hearts. Games like Dead by Daylight having 'clones' such as Identity V, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, VHS.
And, even though you defend them, Overwatch literally copied TF2. Tjorborn (or whatever his name was, it's been a long time.) is literally just the Engineer. Mercy is very obviously the Medic. Junkrat is Demoman. ...So on, so forth, I'm sure you can put the pieces together for the other classes.
To give you an example closer to want you wanted, being a clone and successful, Palworld.
Every game is a copy of another, people just tweak this, change that, and call it their own. Some put more effort into trying to make it "unique" while others don't, but regardless, they are all basically the same ultimately.
Dude disney isnt beating microsoft money. They are getting the funds right now together to purchase EA. You know the monster that buys everything and then sits on it like a dragon on atop his horde of awesome. literally holds titles for all the most popular games because coward creators sell out ASAP and we are left with garbage team of devs from some third party department.
TF is a rip off of pong.
And then from there go back through the entire history of games and learn about all the things heavily, heavily inspired by other things. You can start with fighting games and the history of SNK and Capcom for some good examples lol.
Point being that video games are largely iterative and, as a whole, thats a very good thing for us, the gamers/players.
You're kidding right?
There has been a thousand "Overwatch is better" threads here and another thousand on the Ovewratch board. Everyone and their mom and their dog compares the two games.
