so ow invented pvp?
Overwatch took the then-nascent genre of Hero Shooter and popularized it in to a massive mainstream genre trend. Like WoW did with MMOs, or Skyrim did with Free-Choice Open World, or Destiny did with Looter Shooter.
None of those games invented the genre, but their massive mainstream success sparked a giant race to cash in on the popularity, dramatically bloating the market and establishing the genre in the mainstream.

But more than that, Paladins started as Project Aurum back in 2012 with pre-alpha test footage of the game. Overwatch wasn't announced until 2 years later. Are we really to believe that the company that never makes shooters suddenly decided they were going to make a shooter exactly like the one in development by a company known for their hit online shooter?
Well, at least it's free.

every game is diff lol idk why everyone is crying about rivals "copying" overwatch
Some character mechanics are similar, yes, but that is a given. This has been part of the evolution of games since the start of them—taking what works and building on it. Just because there are some similar mechanics, that does not mean you should discredit what is new. Just by reading the abilities, you can easily see that the design constraints present in this game are totally different from Overwatch. Certain characters have permanent flight, there is a tank that plays entirely different from everything that has come before (Peni), team-ups, several revival characters, etc.
Anyone claiming the game is a direct copy of Overwatch has either never played Marvel Rivals, never played Overwatch, or are just disingenuous.
Man Quake with it's stupid no integrity ripping off Pong as the first projectile pvp arena mode.
Absolutely shameless
