The closest argument that could be made is the fact that StarCraft and WarCraft were originally supposed to be Warhammer 40k and Warhammer FB games respectively but GW wouldn't agree to a licensing deal, so Blizzard took their working prototypes and made their own IP with them, which is the reason GW after seeing the explosive success of those two games that could have been their IP now gives the Warhammer license to pretty much anybody who asks.
Everything else is just "blizzard made a game in an existing genre" which nobody owns a genre.
