Why is the community so rude?
I don't often play brand new multiplayer games on Release, but so far I've found that the communities are always really great and supportive at the beginning.

- I had a wonderful time in Overwatch 1. The first weeks/months were a paradise, everyone was friendly, there was a lot of talking/chatting and everyone supported each other.

- It was similar in Valorant. For a shorter time, but it was really great at the beginning

But in Marvel Rivals, either everyone is quiet or they're toxic.
I always write something like “Good luck, have fun <3” at the beginning as a friendly greeting... but either nothing comes back or someone gets insulting.

It's kind of sad and takes the fun out of the game when you don't have that feeling of a big community supporting each other and having fun together.
Somehow everyone is just playing for themselves and you can tell from how people play, not just how they behave :/
It's like thea play a solo-shooter and don't want to communicate.

Do you have similar experiences? Maybe some nice people of this community can connect under this post to play together some time

This is sad... crying on a forum about people not being nice to you in a game. smh, snowflakes everywhere.

They take these games way to serious. I like these games, but I'm just not that good in them. Games are made to have fun, but being trashed just because you are not as good as they want you to be, is not my definition of fun. Winning or losing, who cares. Its the journey that counts, not the destination. Or mabye its just there competitive nature. They hate to lose and if they do they need to blame someone else in order to release the anger/disepointment they feel. If they where in a relationship with a partner with high expectations and jells at them for every mistake they make, they wouldn't like that either. It tells more about them and who they are as a person then they realise. An image come in my mind. The kind of person who rage quit, smacks his screen en then cries because its broken.

my take on why the community is toxic is that in ow2 ppl can get silenced very easily so a lot less ppl are yapping. this game is new and ppl are testing the waters. most toxic ppl are ow players.

Its called venting and he has every right to share his emotion and opinion on the case. And maybe he is just trying to understand why some people are like this, because he is not. So he opens up to others to learn and grow. If you cant respect that then, well I feel sorry for you

CoD players. I get them too and just laugh at how bad they are in the replay viewer. Youre going to get a ton of never played hero shooters before gamers playing this just cause of the IP. So casuals that dont understand win conditions in a hero shooter and CoD guys thinking its all about damage and kills. The CoD guys think its all about eliminations, nothing else matters to them.

Cuz it's a mix of five-year-olds and thirty-plus-year-olds.

Toxic leads to toxic

It's Marvel fans that for some reason despise Overwatch players and direct all their hatred to them, automatically assuming that everyone they meet is a "whiny gross Overwatch player".
If you dislike literally ANYTHING about the game then to them the only reason is because you came from Overwatch.

For some reason this game also attracts the "anti-DEI" trump supporter maga crowd and we all know what they are like.

OW2 has a huge amount of toxicity for the same reasons. Pointing fingers in dead bushes is a form of lies.

community is toxic because the game want it so.
They need to fixes and balance tons of stuffs, and be more respectful and sincere towards its playerbase

Because it's a very fast-paced adrenaline-filled experience where you are reliant on six complete strangers, often of vastly different skill levels. It's stressful and people are more volatile in those scenarios.

Add to that the dehumanising effect of not being able to see the other person and people being on a losing streak due to factors outside of their (perceived) control and you get a potent cocktail of potential abuse.

Plus there are precious snowflakes on both sides: people who never get told that they are bad at something and, on the opposing end, those who expect things to always go their way. Both throw hissyfits when confronted by reality.

And guess what, most OW players came to this game,so they add up to basically anything you could see there.
Yeh, it's sad how communities evolved over time :winter2019saddog:
I find toxicity funny as hell

We live in a world where children are maimed and murdered in stupid wars, and you're complaining about manners in an online fantasy game where the only thing that gets hurt is your ego?

Get some perspective. There are literally at least 2 billion people who would trade places with you right this moment.

The question is, would you swap with them, or are you here just to enlighten us all how holy you are. And we should all shake our heads in disbelief that the whole world doesn't bow down and offer you the respect you demand from them.

Get a grip.
Just because there are wars and people out there who are really struggling doesn’t mean it’s an excuse to be a jerk. Yeah, there are always people who have it worse, and that’s heartbreaking—I think about it all the time. But that doesn’t mean I have to put up with crappy behavior in my own life.

Sure, what I’m talking about here is small in the grand scheme of things. I’ve got way bigger problems than this little thing in my life too.
But if we can’t even handle something this basic, how are we ever gonna deal with the bigger stuff?
Like, where do we even start?
Shouldn’t the easiest thing be just treating people with kindness?
If everyone was a little nicer and more supportive, working together, we’d have a much better shot at tackling the bigger challenges.

Friend, I feel you. The game feels so heavy. Life is hard when you keep yourself accountable while others act like total wasteland bandits.

Honestly, without them in Overwatch, it's much more peaceful now. We can pause the game and stay in the middle of the point, chatting during a competitive match. We talked about beers and made up birthday for our mates, then faked celebrating it. Many memories I would cherish and giggle at.

The thing is, everyone wants to be a hero and earn the bragging rights, so they blame others. Stress accumulates so they are always in panic mode.

I hope this makes you feel better. you're not responsible for their fault my friend. :)

Hi welcome to the internet, nothing changed really. Thinking even back to Quake 3 Arena there was always a lot of toxic folks, competitive multiplayer games were always like that nothing changed maybe the quantity of people doing it but thats pretty much it. All I can say is Grow up and ignore it like most of us do.
