why does the game take so long to load?
I've seen several people, myself included, get stuck at 99% for like a minute and it's just annoying
does anyone know *why* this happens tho?

Because, assuming that's your case like most: you have the game on an external drive. Move the game to your local drive to load and run smoother and faster. Consider lowering game graphics for better performance, may help with loading too.

Are you using an SSD?

yeah it's on an external drive
honestly I'd rather have long loading times over no space on my computer

Sadly you will end up having the match half way or even completely done before you manage to load into the game.

it's not too bad
for me it loads seconds before the match starts or slightly after

Everyone and their dog is using UE5 but not a single one of them knows the first thing about optimizing for this engine so an SSD is mandatory and general performance suffers.

I had it on my second SSD. Moved to my main SSD. It's still happening, the 99% load thing.

even on an SSD it still takes a bit to load

I've tried everything I possibly could, moving files, dropping settings down to the lowest possible, even went and bought a longer ethernet cable to run through my house since my modem is in a different room. Not a single thing worked.
So my last resort is hard resetting my computer to clear any and everything off all my hard drives and reinstalling it back onto my SSD.
I have a RTX3060 and 32gb ram with a 500gig drive
I've never had a single issue with any UE5 games until this game came out. And truly I think they hard released it without testing optimization to its fullest. Seems to run just fine on my partners 4020 but I won't load in until halfway through the match and even more so for my character to load in.

how do you move it?
Crumblelump Dec 12, 2024 @ 12:04pm
Go into steam; Library; Marvel Rivals; click the cog in the right hand side; properties; installed content; move files

it's not a ssd vs hdd issue. happens to me too, moved it to ssd and it was still taking ages to load. reinstalled and still the same.
it's a bug. the game doesn't REQUIRE a solid state drive, it's recommended but it's not a requirement.

RUNNING THE GAME AS ADMINISTRATOR COMPLETELY FIXED IT FOR ME (ON PC)
IT STILL RUNS NOT AS WELL ON STEAM DECK THO

Honestly I don't want to play THAT much...
I'll put it on my M.2 disc and if that's not good enough this game can piss off. Either way they definitely didn't optimize this game.
I only sport a 2080, but this has been strong enough for everything so far.
