OP: this thing seems to be working on Proton, so there's that. Probably will need some fiddling, but it seems to be doable to flip a bird to that kernel-level nonsense it requires.
We have consoles for that.
But attempts to do that so far have failed. Geforce Now isn't that popular and Google Stadia flat out died. Xbox Game Pass is the only successful winner in the field and only because you don't need to use its streaming service at all. One day, though, one day...
