Directx 12 launch problem
"Message: DirectX 12 is not supported on your system. Try running without the -dx12 or -d3d12 command line argument."

I've restarted my computer.
I've checked my driver for an update, which was up to date, so I reinstalled it.
I've reinstalled the game.
I've tried force running -dx11, -dx12 and -d3d12 in the launch settings.
I've verified my game file integrity.
I've searched dxdiag into my pc, my version is Directx 12.

I watched a youtube video that was posted 4 months ago on how to fix this problem, with this game. Meaning, while the game was still in alpha. 🤨? Why is it still a problem, what else can I try to fix it? Thanks anyone

As in, if devs add support for those ?
That's a question with no answer at the moment, not even on their Discord server.

Same here on a "AMD Radeon R9 390 Series" graphics card. Other DX12 Games like Death Stranding are running fine. The DX11 mode is also not working
I installed custom drivers from guru3d on my R9 390. The error disappeared and the game started normally.

Could you link here the specific driver ?

Been seeing quite the number of R9s across multiple games on UE5 so this could help these.

Maybe talking about nimez driver? Not sure that would actually work.

There are reports on proton github of people able to play on r9's with VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_0, so you could try vulkan on windows (with risk of triggering security).

LEGACY GCN 1/2/3 ARCHITECTURE - R9 390
Here is the forum at this link. There are instructions there. I didn't get it right the first time. I don't have any AMD software right now, but the main thing is that the game works. I tried running Cyberpunk 2077 on medium+ settings - everything works at 60 fps.

which option did you take on the driver?
I cant seem to get it working (got a r9 390 as well)
Unless UE5 gets lower level DX12 support, until then you can't expect ANY UE5 game run at older hardware.

After doing some more digging I've found that my graphics card, Intel Iris X3, a graphics card that came out in 2020 is too old to play this game. Which means I can't play the game. Check your graphics card. If your system came out before 2022 there's a good chance you simply can't play the game.

Intel Iris Xe is not a graphics card, it's an integrated graphics chip. It's not too old to run games which support it, but can't run any game that requires an actual graphics card.
This isn't quite right, this has to be an artificial limitation added in by the game devs. The GTX 1060 and RX 480 can play this game and if you look at pure DX12 support the Iris Xe has better DX12 support than those two cards because they are both from around 2016. Now of course the Iris Xe is a slower integrated GPU yes but it should at least be able to start and if you played at low settings I'm sure you could at least get playable framerate out of it. A possible explanation is the devs have made a "whitelist" of cards that can play the game and don't allow the game to start on cards that aren't on it.

How are people so oblivious to Intel being so far behind on technological progress ?
Maybe spend more time investigating what it is that you are buying so you can discover that Intel is a sinking ship past 5 years.
Iris Xe is 8 years behind on gaming tech.

GTX 1060 and RX580 fully support Shader Model 6.6 and some part of 6.7 while Iris Xe does not fully support SM 6.6 as evident by it not being able to run UE5's Nanite and Virtual Shadow Maps.

Spend some time researching the topic instead of blaming devs for no apparent reason.
I'm playing this game on linux with r9 290X gpu which dx12 feature level is 12_0 (with launch option VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_0 %command% and mb it's possible to run this game on windows with something similar like -dxlevel 120 or some mods to run dx12 games on old GPUs in windows with dx11/12 through vulkan like dxvk or vkd3d)?

On Windows you can make R9 300/200 run via custom driver since AMD is not supporting legacy products anymore.
There, it's mostly about Agility SDK but even these older cards can rune UE5.

don't think you can.. I tried the community drivers and yes, the game will launch but crash as soon the Anti-Cheat popup disappears.

were you actually able to run this on Windows on such hardware? - if so, how did you do it?

Few replies above yours and no, not me.

yeah.. people can run it on Linux but I really don't think anyone was able to run this on Windows using AMD GCN hardware.
