I don't want to play Luna either but you're pretty much forced to with Storm which is free annihilate supports in the backline ultimate.
I want to play Raccoon or Loki but game is counter ult the game in high rank evenly matched.
Give every other character a CC and then slowly remove them with time.
Really, it should only be limited to ults or high cool-downs.
If you take a closer look, you will quickly realize that 90% of ultimates are either AOE damage bursts, or AOE invincibility spheres.
I really do not get how it passed any testing phase during game development, but it is ridiculously flawed.
I really do not want to bring up overwatch as a good example, but in the starting roster when the game launched, ultimates were varied and each character had a unique impact, be it DPS, support or tank.
Luna snow, Mantis, cloak and dagger and now even Invisible woman just makes your team unkillable for a specific time. This is not a fun nor entertaining element of the game.
While Raccoon gives you useless 40% damage boost, or Loki who can transform into someone (which is surprisingly ALWAYS used to duplicate one of the invincibility ultimates).
The game currently is all about charging up your ultimate and use it to wipe the most enemies or make your teammates unkillable.
Whenever I hear Luna ulting, I literally see how players eyeroll in front of their PCs, since everyone knows what comes next. 12 sec of invincible enemies.
The game also has too much auto-lock on abilities, which is something shouldn't be in a game like this to begin with.
Even overwatch realized this and removed most of it later.
Heroes of this game would need a massive overhaul to make the game feel varied and fresh, not just copy-paste content.
There is a very good reason why duplicate picks of same heroes are not allowed in games like this. Because using the same abilities always turn to be broken.
If there is one invincibility ultimate, other supports should have something different in purpose.
Marvel Rivals fail to bring fresh and unique ultimates to the table.
I mean, I get that powerful ultimates are a core part of these types of games, but the lack of variety is just too much. As you said, some characters have ultimates that are basically "get out of jail free cards," and they completely dominate matches. It’s frustrating as hell when you know a single button press is going to guarantee 12 seconds of "no one can die" while the enemy team gets steamrolled. There’s no strategy, no excitement – just a waiting game until their invincibility runs out.
And the auto-lock abilities? Ugh, don't even get me started. That’s just a lazy design choice. It’s like the devs thought it’d be "easier" to let players lock on automatically rather than requiring actual skill or aim. Overwatch learned the hard way that players need to be in control, not the game itself. Marvel Rivals needs to go back to the drawing board and give us something new, something that actually requires thought and strategy to use effectively.
At this point, the ultimates feel like they were all designed by the same guy who thought Luna Snow’s invincibility was a "great idea." This game desperately needs some diversity in its hero abilities, or it’ll just continue to be a grindy mess with zero fun factor.

Her only ace is not the ult. She also has a CC on a relatively short timer. When you hit heads, you can quickly kill any dps.
