i hate rank resets
getting grouped with legit plats/golds against high dia/gm doesn't make sense

I mean I can't think of any game that doesn't do this with a reset. It's the same thing with every singular game in existence that does this.

Otherwise you would force people to be hard stuck in a rank and the point is to prevent these issues and giving unskilled players a permanent place in a rank they don't deserve.

In this game literal TRASH can reach VERY HIGH RANK like Celestial and above via EXTREMELY constantly playing.

I'm talking BRONZE rank in Celestial.

So you prevent this by reset.

Also there is no real significant difference between any of those ranks you list. Skill doesn't pop up till GM1 and then progressively increases with each new rank.


What you're seeing here is a smaller community so the same player over and over getting better and better. Anyone with intelligence will continue to progress even if they don't have mechanical increases. Just on knowledge.
Yeah its a weird system..
I get that they are trying to work against people feeling "stuck" in their rank but...

For me ranked modes in video games are not "competitive" that is what tournament play is for.
Ranked modes should be purely so you can find balanced games based on your skill level.
They should be treated and designed to facilitate fun in competitive terms.
They should not be about the climb....
If I have found my rank that I feel comfortable with and find games against other players that are neither much better or worse then me, I am happy and having fun.
I do not want to have to climb back to this position arbitrarily being less happy and having less fun along the way.

Which also has a carrot in this one where the higher ranks give out rewards and likely that's why there is a system in place where nearly ANYONE can reach those high ranks.

I mean what you're really asking for is SBMM which ironically everyone hates. Even I don't like it cause it makes you have to sweat all the time in order to win every match is the hardest possible cause it's based on YOUR skill.

I get what your saying though but I think this is a UNIQUELY this genre issue that doesn't have a ready solution. Cause it's too easy to make the game too hard or too easy based on a SINGULAR persons input in the game (high skill).
It was severe this time because the Devs wanted to remove the overinflation their previous system accidentally caused. Now people will end up in more correct ranks.
They should do rank decay instead of rank reset.

Rank reset is engagement bait trolling from the devs.

Oh yeah I completely agree, my perspective is jaded from my experience being more biased toward a different genre of games (fighting).. I will admit I am a casual when in it comes shooters.
I just kinda like how many Fighting games when it comes to their reset is more focused on just resetting to leader-boards then effecting the rank infrastructure.

I have enjoyed competing for positions on such in games I was proficient enough too and have also appreciated that my rank progress does not dip every 3month in games I was not.

SBMM works alot better in 1v1, also a lot less external pressure to always preform at peak.
I am not very good at maths, so I do not have any suggestions and appreciate the impossible task...
But I just wanna pway and have my fun time :(

This new system already has overinflation. The very first season caused it.

whats worse... having to sweat hard every game.... playing for your rank..... or being given your rank..... forgiven losses with chrono shields..... winning signifcantly more then losing on loss.

The games competitive integrity has been compromised and they want to preserve engagement to a certain amount while trying to be competitive and doing it half way is just not going to work.

Bans should start like right away, they removed team stacks from the top 2 ranks, this should also be gone in the rest of the ranks and at max you can duo queue.....

the last patch proved they dont know what the problem is in their own game.... supports didnt need offense..... they needed defensive help. Nerfing spiderman by 1 m .... range is laughable.

Anyways they chose these options to optimize engagement.... not for competitive integrity. They are trying to be both, but they should really pick what they want to be.

1 more thing, the team-ups some of them are laughable but they are fun... jeff riding groot..... wolverine being thrown..... but nowhere in ranked are you doing this. Some heroes have terrible team-ups.
My GM friend didn't play for a season and got to essentially smurf back up through bronze getting MVP every single game ruining the game for everybody he played against. The devs want you to grind this game and have 0 intentions of changing it, your rank getting reset every 3 months is just a joke.

most games rank down by 1 not 2 like rivals

also i can tell a difference when im with another support.
Gold supports never heal you back even after saving them countless times

also i can tell a difference when im with another support.

you being the only gm+ player and they still don't heal you at all lmao
