Hot Take: I'd take less heros if it meant we got more maps
I seem to be in the minority who think the devs made a terrible decision removing 2 maps from comp in exchange for 1. I've started becoming a quick play warrior even just to play those 2 maps again. Marvel has so many places where they can take inspiration from and make maps out of just like the hero's, the fact we still only have like 5 is a crime.

Especially when the new maps are a**. I hate Krakoa and I audibly sigh when I realize I'll be playing on them.

Overwatch 1 only had 3 maps for each of its 4 game modes when it released. That total, before it closed down, ended up being 30 maps. (And those first 12 maps took over two years to create.)

Takes time to make content. I'm sure we'll see more characters and maps as the years go on.

I keep hearing some people say that but I never understood why. I love the Krakoa map. Thinking with portals is fun, to me anyway.

We have a total of 5 new hero's. While in that same time 3 news maps. We do not get maps at the same pace.

Yes but overwatch started with 12 while we had 4, literally less than half. That's my grievance,.

That's fair, but they probably didn't know how well the game would do and probably didn't want to put that much work into it without some indicator that it'd pay off. Mapmaking is very difficult, esp. on UE5 (Unreal Engine has been plagued with map problems throughout its lifespan, particularly meshing issues).

They may not have had the expertise, either. From what I understand, mapmaking had to be farmed out to a contract team. That's a reliable indicator that in-house map talent doesn't exist (or is otherwise occupied, but unlikely in this case).
