Thumbs up? Nah, Highlight instead!
Does anyone else feel like there could be some quality of life updates with regards to the interface? For example, at the end of each match I find myself accidentally playing a teammate's highlight an uncomfortable amount of times when I'm just trying to give them a thumbs up. You can't cancel out of it until the actual highlight starts, so you have to sit through a 2-5 second unskippable intro and then after skipping the highlight another 2-5 second unskippable outro, it's mind numbing. It's somehow almost worse than if I were being served ads in that time. Actually that speaks to a secondary issue where there is just a lot of that sort of pointless tedium of waiting while a stupid animation plays that you can't skip, all the while taking processing power to do so and not actually adding anything to the experience other than unsolicited polish. Anyways, I digress. Does anyone else feel like there are minor ui improvements that could be made that would dramatically improve quality of life with the ux?

For sure, that being said, what's the point of thumbs upping people anyway? If this game has an endorsement level type system i have not seen it.

Fair question. A couple reasons personally:

  • I have in my head somewhere that I seemed to get some sort of reward when other players upvoted me, I could be misremembering. It does definitely send you a chat notification when it happens which regardless is a nice little source of joy!
  • Since this is a newer game we're bound to see implementations later that could very well rely on the data from these mechanics. It stands to reason that we could be sitting on an effective "exp bank" for when such a time that a player reputation system is put into place.
  • Finally I just think even without overt rewards that commendation systems are a plus because it aligns with basic psychology. People like being affirmed or complimented, or given kudos. People feeling better play better. If it's a thumbs up that offsets whatever straw on their proverbial camel that flips them from happy to sad, I'm all for it!

On the other hand they may not actually save any of the data collected for thumbs ups so it could just be going straight into the trash lmfao
