Ban system seems arbitrary?
As I think many of us comp players have, I report people on a regular basis. Whether it be for throwing, etc... I recently reported a couple of guys who harassed me over voice chat for being a girl. They were classic DPS mains who were not in LOS pretty much ever, but it was a me problem as their support. The reason for how much I suck? "You're a female". Ah okay, understood. Absolutely no consequences in my inbox for this instance, but I get notified of bans all the time for throws. Feels weird to me idk.

I face issues like this often and never see consequences.

Guys say mean stuff to other guys on voice chat CONSTANTLY. If youre frustrated about what they are being mean about (your gender) I suggest you get tougher skin if youre going to stay in a generally male dominated space because it will be harsh like any other generally male dominated field, career, or hobby. Dudes are crude it is what it is

I once had two teammates spawn camp an entire round after a third player disconnected from the team. They both got penalized, but I was notified days between, despite reporting them at the same time.

It's a really weird system

Other people have been sexist in the game and not been banned, it's annoying.
Best to just mute them, report them, and hope something eventually happens.

Keep in mind different types of bans are going to have different time frames.

Things the algorithm and preset parameters can capture might be instant banned, but something that requires human review could take 2+ weeks.

I am assuming your a support main by the sounding of your post. The problem is these DPS mains - Go check their profile | I guarentee you have not played support at all or significantly enough to actually understand what the problem is....

Tanks Perspective
I have played all 3 roles and there are times when i'm tanking I get lit up and im like..... yeah that was on me because i jumped in line of sighting my team..... but then there is times where my team is behind me...... before jumping in..... and then they Back away from 1 GUY...... how is the team getting 1 guy'd.... and then i die to no healing and you watch the cam after.... and you see they backed UP alot. Giving up free objective space is just a bad idea...... the other team knows your scared and will continuously just take space..... Its kinda like SF6..... for a long time i was always backing up...... which lead to me being stuck in the corner.... you do ACTUALLY have to fight back. On the side note when im playing thor...... i will go in and lay the hammer on them....... but if i notice my team is dying .... I will start to protect my team first because i know how important it is to have HEALERS heal you. - Hardly anyone does this.

Healer Perspective
After playing cloak and dagger, rocket, sometimes luna....... its very obvious that your team NEVER helps you.... it must be like 9/10 games someone will actually turn around to peel for you and the common excuse is .... well i'm playing a guy who hits back line ..... i can't help you. SOME tanks that are dps oriented and dps players are selfish and want to blame you for their loss when infact your simply not playing the game properly protecting your healer who has ONLY get out of jail card ONCE. As rocket, you get 2 short dashes...... and if that wasnt enough to get to a cliff.... your gone, CnD - you get 1 cloak..... and then your gone and if you misuse it someone will just ult you right after....... and your dead anyway. Another problem healers struggle from are DPS / tanks completely line of sighting the healer.... the healer heals you going out of their way putting themselves in a bad position , they die but you dont...... which eventually leads to your death and you blaming the healer who actually was out of position to SAVE YOU who was way out of position.

DPS perspective
After playing a bit of namor, scarlet witch, hawkeye, storm, punisher its fairly obvious where the problem with the dps is at. If you are simply a flyer (storm, torch, ironman) You simply will just not get healed sometimes and this is because your healer just NEVER looks anywhere but straight. I have had countless healers on CnD tell me its hard to heal people behind you... above you.... and if your simply not infront of them they just wont heal you.....if this is you.... you are 100% a problem. I also have had countless people say YOU must request for healing to be healed...... HUH? You are dead as you requesting it. The characters when damaged LITERALLY GLOW YELLOW through the walls.....Its crazy how some healers simply do not heal you. There was a qm i remember in the last day or two...... i was on magik ..... i barely went much further than the team and i had 100 hp left... after ulting i killed 3 people and still did not recieve a heal for like 20-30 s........ we had a rocket and a CnD. I swapped to tank.... same thing no heals being literally in front of them. I switch to CnD myself the other healer swapped to another healer and i out healed them with 25% of the match left which is crazy.

TLDR - Each role has its problems but majority of the players don't play all 3 roles... so they simply will never understand what the challenges are from each role. If that DPS guy played an entire season or atleast 1 month of CnD/Luna/Rocket they would understand spiderman, black panther, magik, thor literally crush you.

ive been talked ♥♥♥♥ to for 10+ years playing video games and not once have i complained about it on the internet. woman start playing video games more and all they do is complain about it. talk ♥♥♥♥ back or just mute and move on, you are still thinking about that one moment enough to type about it. oh no someone you will never see or talk to again called you bad cuz ur a woman. is your life in danger? if only your feelings are hurt then it doesnt matter at all.
I feel like there's still an inherent imbalance where you dont need to be scared as a masculine voice, but as a feminine voice you should be on the alert for constant harassment -- not really sure how its taken this long for that to get mentioned

Literally none of this was relevant to someone being outright sexist on voice chat.

I get you girl but idc this is mild thicken up and if they cross the line report the hell out of them. the line being vulgarity threats and doxing/hacking....

This thread is asking about how arbitrary the report system is.
VoiD Apr 27 @ 7:16pm
It has been decades since we've seen actual moderation.

Moderators are supposed to keep the order in games, they are not your mother or father, they really shouldn't be touching anyone unless they are throwing, cheating, etc...

And the only reason to ban someone for saying stupid ♥♥♥♥ is if they are wasting time typing nonsense which counts as afk/throwing, tell them to shut up and do their part.
H 4 Z E Apr 28 @ 8:29pm
that just means no one else has reported them, thus they have no collected enough reports to ban the guy. which then means he normally doesnt act like a pos/doesnt get reported.
either of the two.

So i dont get your complaining. Throws you get notos because it obviously means they throw in a lot more matches than just match with you

80% of the players won't understand what the problem is, but profile checking won't guarantee that. You can learn everything you need to learn from other games, Overwatch directly translates for example, but there are quite a few applicable lessons from many different games and genres that will teach the same lessons one needs to succeed here.

That being said, ♥♥♥♥ talkers are almost always the worst players on the team. Even when they aren't, they tend to only be good in one narrow area, maybe with excellent mechanics, or above average positioning, but they fail miserably in one or more areas. The main one they lack is understanding how to function in a team, they have terrible tunnel vision and almost no ability to assess the main threat for the team, only whatever threat is targeting them.

You aren't going to be able to teach that person anything. At this point, you need to decide what is more important to you, winning the match, or playing in a way that should be more correct in most circumstances, but isn't working. If it isn't working, then it's worth trying to use this ♥♥♥♥ talker to your advantage. Pay attention to what they are doing and how you can make it serve you. If there is nothing there, then you ignore them. The match is probably going to be a loss if your team can't put up some collaborated resistance. Surrender and move on to the next if it's dire, or stick it out if there's a thread of hope.

We can't control other people. it's not worth worrying about it. If reporting it makes you feel better, then report. Watching your inbox like a hawk waiting to see some kind of report action doesn't serve you, and if you're throwing out a ton of reports over everything you perceive to be offensive or "throwing", you're probably wrong half the time and just as toxic in a more passive aggressive way.
