One way to prove EOMM losing streaks exist
While you are in a forced losing streak, quit while you are loading in during QP (don't worry, another player will be put in, your team will be fine except they're going to lose anyway). Then check on a tracker what happened in that game.

Your team will have lost, every time. Because it was rigged to lose.

I have found if you farm losses in QP and go into ranked you go on pretty long win streaks. The trick is to switch to ranked before you get a Bot match in quickplay, because its impossible to lose a bot match. I got a 70% wr in ranked s1 doing this.

I'm guessing you ran this experiment exactly one time?

Yeah, so far. Just occurred to me when I alt-f4'd because the map was Krakoa and screw that map, and then I checked out of curiosity and my team got rolled.

Some of the problem is also probably being down a person in the first fight. The game is bizarrely slow at backfilling when people don't load in / pick at the start.

I was concerned about that, but the system replaces a leaver quickly. But you'd have to avoid disconnecting, because that does take forever.

God these EOMM losing streaks suck. I don't have that much time to play so when I get one, I'm screwed. It just negates the whole rest of the day I could play it, because they just keep going on once they start unless you quit for multiple days or run them out (which takes AGES and trashes your winrate).

Oh, by the way, it looks like this is the game you were talking about:

https://tracker.gg/marvel-rivals/matches/6697299_1745382769_1309054_11001_13

This was by no means a roll. This was a 14-minute domination game that went 2:1, this was super close. Ironically, of the games you played tonight, this was likely the most winnable (though maybe not if you're awful on this map).

By the way, a quick tip for Krakoa, on a couple of the points there's a teleporter that has a health pack on the other side, you can just dip into that for a quick heal and then come right back, I use that all the time.

Whatever, I'm playing OW2 for the rest of the night. At least I don't know if I'll win or lose the next game there.

This EOMM system is trash, and like the bots, any spell it has is broken once you see it. Why would I play more tonight when I'm going to get steamrolled over and over and I know it ahead of time...

I think the spell that's on you is the belief in these losing streaks. It's a funny coincidence that those who don't believe they exist also seem not to get them.

That said, taking a break if you're tilted / demoralized is generally a good choice. Not much good usually comes out of continuing to play. This is one of those cases where the EOMM believers get the right idea "by accident".

The thing is, I can tell if it's my fault we're losing. Nearly all of these games are absolute rampages where my entire team gets killed before I can do anything, and then the momentum carries the entire match and we end up with like 10 kills between the entire team. They're not close games I could have possibly affected in any way.

Plus some of them are obviously stacked like on my last forced losing streak (god I get so many of them) every other team had 3+ celestials and my team had no celestials, just like one GM and mostly gold-plat.

Me being mediocre on support shouldn't be ABLE to make me lose 15 games in a row. There should be at least five games in there I couldn't lose without throwing.

I'll spectate some of your games sometime, but the difference between a close game and a stomp can be smaller than you think. Many fights snowball off a single pick, and as you noted, once a team gets momentum it can be hard to stop if the team on the backfoot isn't really disciplined with ult usage (which they're often not). If you can change something about that fight so the initial pick doesn't happen, that can completely turn the tide of the game.

A lot of these games are also openly unfair too; we'll start down people, or they'll be backfills. I get LOADS of backfills on forced losing streaks and never get them otherwise.
Terotrous Apr 22 @ 11:25pm
You mean you're the backfill? The game no longer counts those games against you now if you lose.

I agree that games with leavers are lame, but it's not like the system can do much about that.

Yeah, and while I appreciate that they don't count, you still lose. It's not a great experience.

And it might arrange leavers by putting you together with people who constantly disconnect or something.

But I might just be having a bad night in general. I went over to OW2 and just kept losing there.
Leaving your team mid game...is not gonna help a win to begin with.

Stop being part of the problem. Thanks.
