Anyone else experiencing overheating and 100% CPU usage while playing Marvel Rivals?
Hey everyone,
I’ve been playing Marvel Rivals and noticed something odd, my CPU usage jumps to 100%, and my GPU temperature climbs to around 85°C, even when I'm playing on low settings. It’s a bit concerning, and I’m wondering if anyone else is facing this too.

PC specs:
- GPU: RTX 3060 Ti
- CPU: Intel i5-12400F
- RAM: 16 GB

What’s strange is that this only happens with Marvel Rivals. I play other demanding games on high settings with no issues, both CPU usage and GPU temps stay totally normal. So I’m thinking this might be an optimization issue with the game?

Is anyone else having the same experience? Would love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks in advance!

Game can never cause your system to overheat on its own. It simply exposes issues your hardware has. Insufficient cooling can be caused by dusty fan, thermal paste going old etc. or if you have AIO-cooler, it just might be time to swap it.

My PC is about two years old, and I've kept it completely clean with no dust buildup, and temperatures are perfectly normal when running other performance-intensive games like Cyberpunk or Warzone on high settings. This overheating issue (specifically, the GPU reaching around 85°C) only occurs with Marvel Rivals, even at low settings. That's why I consider it a game-specific optimization issue, not a hardware issue.
I don't see anything abnormal with 85C on the GPU. If it's ALWAYS like that, then it's a problem, but during heavy load that's what you'd expect to get.

upgrade your CPU cooler, if youre using the stock intel cooler consider a single tower air cooler, thermal right makes them for 20 USD, add more case fans..

I know how to fix but im tired of explaining and fixing this busted ass chinese game.

Edit your power plan Go to processor power management If its Maximum i set to 88% on battery / 95% plugged in. Min processor state 50% on battery / 60% plugged in. Processor Performance boost mode Aggressive on both

You can also find the game .exe and then right click go to properties check disable fullscreen optimizations, Then go to Change high dpi settings under it and click it then check box Override High DPI scaling behavior. After your done do whats in this video. I also have a 3060 and it runs above 144 hz no problem https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8zSEdf9DGI&t=126s

After you change those settings you can play it on high I purposely play on low tho because its an fps... I could go higher with the 3060 no problem. My Cpu temps and gpu are fine before they were like 95 but this cpu says thats normal. But since I changed those settings in power management and nividia settings I got turbo boost on and im at 80 temp. Also you should shut off

You can also use these in your launch options its good for 3060s I use it the last one is to load the shader patch since the launcher doesnt work right now but this line with load the new optimization patch they put out till the launcher gets back up -novid -USEALLAVAILABLECORES +r_drawparticles 0 -forcenovsyn +mat_disable_fancy_blending 1 +engine_low_latency_sleep_after_client_tick true +fps_max 0 -softparticlesdefaultoff -PSOCompileMODE=1

Let me know if it works for you. I was getting studders and stuff even when the new shader patch came out and it was pissing me off so bad for weeks. After I did all that the game runs perfectly

That video and this one you should always use these settings if you have any nvidia card https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ur_uKxrOSMU There are settings that are hidden you can set like he has and it will boost your Gpu in all games its improved every game even tho others run great but now they run even better. I do this on all my computers
