But he kind of sucks.

I mean, I have no doubt a great player can make some great plays with him once in a while but it's such an extreme risk vs low reward character.

He's extremely slow, his auto attacks hit like wet noodles, his only real damage source relies on reseting shift over and over again, meaning if you miss even once you're basically unarmed and it's not even a burst kind of character so if his target gets any healing before he can finish them off, he won't be able to kill it.

To make matters worse he's a melee character without mobility that needs to dive the enemy team.

He really needs a big damage boost and/or a 2nd charge for his shift and/or a sprint like Widow's.

Him having the ability to kill single targets quickly would rather stifle his role as a healer-huddle scattering nuisance. You want to use him to disrupt the opponent psychologically, cause panic and force them to change tactics.

But can't you do the same with Magik or Spiderman while doing twice the burst damage?

Not really the same effect, I'd say. You want to kill one person extremely quickly so you should probably focus on playing characters that do that. Obviously he sucks if all you care about is burst damage.

honestly bp imo is more of a mix between a distraction diver and a pick diver(so he's kinda middle ground while someone like cap is more distraction diver than pick diver, with spiderman being on the opposite side of the spectrum as i have seen teams lose focus when a good bp dives)

But that's the issue, half burst can't work, because burst either kills the target before they can react, or it doesn't kill at all.

Burst characters often have bad DPS and you'd be better off with a high DPS character instead

People do care about, and farm for, steam points.

Also, a player decline doesn't mean the game is dying. All games have population decline. I still have 2 second queue times on off peak hours, the game certainly isn't "dying".

BP as a solo is TRASH at the moment. Not only character wise (since everything counters him or messes his dash, and his no-regs) but you can put all the backline pressure in the world, it doesn't matter if your braindead bot team (80% of the playerbase) doesn't capitalize on it.

I think the sprint would work best! I like that idea.
