Yeah I agree with you, it should've been given and pretty standard but I suppose they don't do "standardized stuff" for better (like forever having battlepass if bought) or worse (no cross-prog) =P
I suppose they COULD implement that later.
I believe apex started with no cross-prog and now it has full cross-stuff.
Its possible that either MS or Sony is holding it back as well, not just publishers choice.
The lesson here? Detach yourself from the need to have cosmetics in free games like this. One day, the game will disappear and all the things you paid for and earned through gameplay and time will cease to be. There will be no refunds. There will be no compensation. It will be for nothing, and the only records of your achievements and in game possessions will be the screenshots you took.
Can you name other titles that are free to play and have micro-transactions that have cross platform progression? There can't be that many. The main reason I suspect is that whatever platform you're playing on is getting a cut of any currency, battlepasses or cosmetics you pay for. By compartmentalising the progression they don't end up having to pay more than one platform, or have people spending all their money through Steam but playing on PS5.
