Kinda done it for me.
Fun fact: In last 2 months while Rivals lost 70% of their players, OW2 increased 100% their player count.
I don't think OW will die soon, in fact giving the quantity of players on Blizzard launcher and consoles, OW may have at this time more players than Rivals.
Monster hunter: Wilds
Peak count less than a month ago? over 1 million players
Count now? barely 200k
Still the people playing it love it. That just normal for hype. It had the monster hunter hype.
Palworld? People love it. 2m down to 50k in a few months. Completely normal hype drop off. It had hype by being a pokemon clone.
See you took some games that had abnormal growth and tried to compare them to a normal live services. But when you look at other live service games that ran on hype and had huge number drop offs but are still enjoyed by the playerbase, they tend to have drop off of close to 80 or 90% before stabilizing.
And no, role queue isnt the boogeyman anymore than EOMM is
This game doesn't need it.
I don't care how many hype men Blizzard sends, I am not going to play Overwatch.
The game certainly has it's flaws, but I am finding my time spent in Rivals to be infinitely more enjoyable than in Overwatch.
A lot of the cheaters in this game let you get an easy win in the first round or let you push far on convoy easy then they flip the switch and start cheating and the games quickly becomes impossible to win.
The pattern is so boring an obvious and it happens in Grand Master where it should make no sense for a team that got steam rolled suddenly and magically become unstoppable. there really should not be any steam rolling in Diamond and Above at all. They all should be close ish games.
All games that I listed are in the same model aren't they? They are F2P PvP games. You just listed paid PvE games, there is a huge difference...
In PvE mostly players get annoyed once the main campaign is finished so they tend to quit the game is normal, in PvP players become dedicated to improve their skill, if they really like the game they can easily play the game for years and spend thousand of hours playing it, specially if they have friends playing same game and all. That's why the games that I listed (CS, Fornite, Apex, Valorant...) are able making huge success for years, they can even increase their player base after some years! Players become dedicated because the game is really good.
Meanwhile this is not happening with Rivals, players are leaving day after day, when it got released with 600k players, this game seem to had the potential to be on that list, among the best, but time in fact time proved that this game is just another Chinese crap like no other, maybe not even better than Fragpunk that just came out, but the initial hype was caused because this was in fact a Marvel IP game, and a game that was not really so bad in fact like the other Marvel games.
I feel a little disappointed, at the beginning I kinda liked the game, but the constant frustrations with team because their picks made me finally quit. The lack of RQ in this game is really disappointing and a big mistake. The trends are proving it. I hate to say this, but even OW2 could do better in it's initial seasons, and it was a completely failure without Marvel in it's name.
Agree with this one. I only play for lootboxes but most of they don't understand or even care how Blizzard is treating em and they still doing that. An incoming new complete mode called stadium which took em 2 years and kinda looks like deadlock inspiration. I bet some spicy drama will come soon.
A:
Remove the forced bot matches. No, your "jut play comp" cope doesn't work. 99% of any given game does not play comp. Or want to.
B:
Fix the blatantly broken, 0 counterplay ults, like Storms (invincible AND invisible on startup, immune to CC, can move faster than you AND slow you thanks to her E, kills in 2-3 ticks v most of the cast), AGAIN (why does this reset on assists? It shouldn't be not only possible but easy to kill the same guy with this ult because it lasted so long they respawned during it), etc
C:
Do something about divers which are either unfair (Spiderman pulls you off the map as a character with no mobility; you just die, there's no counterplay as someone like Groot to this) or the majority of the playerbase can't fight (Iron Fist; you just shoot him and he dies, but the fact is 99% of the playerbase are playing casual and bad at the game, they're going to die to him too many times and uninstall)
D:
Fix the overtuned healing
As is the game is a matter of shooting unkillable targets because healing vastly outperforms so much of the casts DPS until you get ult and instantly win OR you pick the broken meta characters
