1. Spider-Man players tend to be uncooperative, hostile teammates. They won't switch off even if the team needs something else (like a tank or support), nor if they're failing badly.
2. Spider-Man is both incredibly obnoxious to supports and is in every game, so people are sick to death of fighting him.
I sort of agree because with the matchmaker being what it is talent lvls will vary alot. A good spiderman will completely dominate a team which is not uncommon in QP. A QP lobby will be a mix of silver to GM.
QP is where an overwhealming majority of games happen so I understand why hes starting to get all this hate. Something must have happened with the matchmaker lately cause it didnt use to be like this.
Ive also got to agree that there have always been a tendency for the worst gamers trying to pick up the hardest to play characters. Ive seen this both in Rivals and Overwatch. Also when they switch they switch for something else that need some sort of thought process or mechanical talent such as BP or Magic.
THOSE are the type of Spiderman players people hate, as well as the arrogant ones who say "Spiderman doesn't kill" while going 0-15 because they think this is a single player PS2 game. Or the ones who are simply bunched with the rest of the toxic Duelist players who never swap their character, even when playing poorly.
GENUINELY GOOD Spiderman players who aren't smurfing or on an ego trip are frustrating to play against, obviously, but also frustrating to play with sometimes as a Strategist, because they can be tough to heal.
THE BEST Spiderman players are on equal skill level with the rest of the lobby, know when/how to disengage from a fight, go for health pack heals or ping for heals if one isn't available, and stay still behind cover with their healer to get heals.
Be the best Spiderman, and the only one giving you trash talk will be your opponents, if they're jerks. If not, you might get respect.
My last game had a Spiderman who liked to charge ahead and fall back a lot. On round 2, when I swapped from C&D to Luna, I put a guard on him every chance I could so I could safely and passively heal him while focusing on actively healing the tank and DPSes that were in my direct sight. I'm not great with Luna, but I'm pretty sure that guard did a lot of good for him and myself.
