Marvel Rivals

Marvel Rivals

Black Screen and Reboot
I have been playing this game for the past month with no issues at all. Yesterday I updated my pc to Win11, as the windows update suggested. Eveything went smoothly and I also updated all drivers.

The problem is that, whenever I try to play Marvel Rivals, after around 10min or less, the pc crashes with a black screen and reboot.
In the event viewer I get this:
A fatal hardware error has occurred.

Component: Memory
Error Source: Machine Check Exception
With WHEA logger source and Event ID 46.

This suggests some king of hardware issue, but this has never occured before. Also this only happens in this specific game...
Has anyone ever had this type of issue before?

ID 46 is a paging file problem (most often, the paging file is not set up or is set to an improper manual config), or a CPU problem. The CPU problem has been fixed by simply re-seating the current CPU, though, so it may not need a total replacement.

First, check to ensure a proper pagefile is set (or, absent that, a proper crash dump file location). If that doesn't fix it, then I hope you're comfortable with PC surgery.
Still I find it weird that the only thing that changed was the windows update. Yesterday I was able to play Rivals for 4h with no issue. Then updated to windows 11 and this issue occured.
How can this be hardware related when all I did was update the OS?

I checked the page file and everything seems fine too

Win 11 changed the way it does a lot of things securitywise. It caused issues for Nvidia owners too -- I've had to fix a very stubborn driver issue with the GPU twice now. @_@

If you can go back to Win 10, that may actually be the most cost-effective solution for you.
