Dr. Strange Portal Cooldown
I was spectating a friend when I saw they had a long cooldown on one ability. One Practice Range test later showed it was the portal. Okay, makes sense. So I tinker around with portals and Dr. Stranger's kit for a few minutes when I canceled a portal and wanted to try it somewhere else...

Only to see it was on the 2 and a half minute cooldown!

It's no wonder Strange players never cancel their portals even when the team runs off without them.

Strange mains, do you think cooldown off of a portal cancel is fair? I can't imagine Squirrel Girl or Rocket losing their ultimate after canceling it!

I think the cooldown is fair, but cooldown after a cancel seems wildly unfair. You get no benefit out of the ability, by your own choice, and then have to wait to use it.

I know Strange is already a good character, but that feels like a rather unnecessary flaw
The Portal gives you the power of freecam its free information with very little risk, even if you wind up canceling its still game changing with proper comms.
cooldown is justified.

I think the portal would be an awesome skill. But in it's current form, it is just useless.
And this is because of the freaking long cooldown.
Having a skill slot being wasted just to give an ability to the hero which you can only use once or maybe....MAYBE twice in a game is just nonsense.

Either they should put it on a cooldown at least half the length, or just replace it completely with something else.

I have no problem with the cooldown, it's a really strong game changing ability so i feel like the cooldown is justified.

I think the cooldown is fair, but cooldown after a cancel seems wildly unfair. You get no benefit out of the ability, by your own choice, and then have to wait to use it.

I know Strange is already a good character, but that feels like a rather unnecessary flaw

cooldown is justified.
It's to prevent free scouting.
The portal needs a shorter cooldown in general, not to mention a reduction from cancel. In my games, my team barely uses it when I put one down because it doesn't last long enough, they aren't in position to even see it, and I can usually only use one (1) per game. If I could cancel them for a shorter cooldown, I could at least move the portal to a better position.
Seph basically hits on the problem here. I play a ton of Strange though I've usually shifted over to Magneto, so I've run into this very issue quite a bit. When you start portal-ing, you are pretty much committed to it no matter what your team does because, yeah, it getting canceled means a massive multi-minute cooldown. I have definitely been very annoyed when I'd cancel it because my team just ran off and had it rather pointlessly go on cooldown.

But there's two issues with just letting portal not go on cooldown if it's canceled. The primary one is what Seph said, portal is free perfect recon, and this could actively be abused if it could be canceled without penalty. The second issue is this would kill the entire skill expression of canceling an enemy Strange's portal, there are a bunch of ways to forcefully cancel the portal and thus nullify it because it then goes on cooldown and forces the enemy to attack you directly from a more predictable angle, but this would be irrelevant if the Strange could just start a new portal again.

And once again, I find myself in the presence of GAMERS. That would have never crossed my mind.
