It makes as much sense as making Osborn black.
Plat is first rank with dedicated queue on your way up. There is a slight change in how game plays, but largerly you are still at mercy of matchmaking.
If you want to do better - find a team and stop solo queue.
Personally i was kicked out from plat 3 back to gold in my first 3 plat matches. We queued against people with far superior skill level than us and we lost. It wasn't even upsetting, we were just outmatched heavily. No complaints, just unlucky. Teams did well, with small exception of one guy who after first round started to self-destruct and talking about how there is no point and it's a waste of time. Frankly, you sound like "that guy".
The competitive ranking up is quite forgiving and easier to climb than most games.
