I genuinely just believe that intentions are what matters. Those people who use slurs to insult others might also be the same people who actually treat everyone with the same amount of respect as they treat others. And talking about humor, I just wanna say that humor shouldn't stop being called humor just because a few got offended.

Not deep because its a term against white people? Replace it with any other word that is racist and its an issue. It was meant in an offensive way that targeted their skin color, that is an issue and its as deep as calling another race an insult with intent attacking their color.

It's not a case of nobody cared, it's a case of no one was allowed to say anything because they would be harassed endlessly until they leave the game/community.

You're fondly looking back to being able to harass people for having different opinions and somehow framing that as a good thing.

Calling someone's opinion stupid for saying something utterly deranged such as covid never having existed is one thing, harassing someone out of a community for saying "can you stop being racist?" is an insane thing to do and claim as a good thing.

For the record, I grew up with those times, in some ways, modern times are much better, in other ways it's worse. But overall, on average, it's better now than it used to be.
