Which version of the Nvidia driver are you on?
It runs with zero effort on current hardware:

It bypass the initial launcher. Also on certain linux builds the launcher throws a fit if I recall. So you remove it as a point of crashing.
That said I have been using proton 9-21 to play fine. Occasional lockup or crash though. That and performance issues but that seems to be all over the place regardless of OS. Will be upgrading my system this week and hopefully see improvements.
I had this problem with Death Stranding and Helldivers 2 on my i7 930 (released in early 2010). It's easy to suspect that all 64 bit CPUs can run all 64 bit programs (and 32 bit ones), but this is not true. There are extensions to the base instruction set that have been added over the years and not all processors have them all. You can read about it in the Wikipedia article below for a summary. The TLDR is that some programs may be using instructions that older processors cannot support.

All that to say, I don't actually know if Rivals is such a program. If you're still having trouble I can try booting it on my old computer (the one with the i7 930) to see if it gives me the same error Death Stranding and Helldivers 2 did.
