Why are quotations censored in game chat?
Title says it all, but to elaborate...

if you put something in quotations in team chat, or lobby chat, its censored. it just simply doesn't show up.
for example, in a game today:

I was playing on a strange, and t hrowing down a portal. And i typed
"come with me if you want to live"

and it was censored. like it wont even give the **** like it normally does with censored words. It just didn't send the message at all.

Why? To what purpose does this serve? I mean, I guess i understand the rationale behind censoring curse words, even though i dont agree with not having an option to turn off profanity filter, its like ok whatever sure.

but quotation marks? whats the point in that?

I said something the other day that the game just swallowed and didn't send and I forget what it was
I noticed that too. From a programming perspective, double quotation mark is usually used for indicating strings of text in code. It can be meddlesome to deal with in user input, so it usually is escaped. I assume in this case they forgot to test that case and quotation marks cause an exception that is caught, but causes the text to not display.
