This is a very silly idea, because the moment they change anything about meta of the game and you no longer want to play your hero, you will be locked out of the competitive untill you learn a new one. And you are not that good, to have 10 hours on every character, bud.
if you did that you would lose a very competent vanguard
i don't have 10 hours on cap, mag and strange, but i can very much get the job done when i play them
Then make the hours to how many you think would be the minimum to learn a specific hero, make it so a certain hero requires a certain accuracy to unlock, make it so it can take a certain amount of damage to unlock, whatever. The point is, you have people in comp playing heroes they obviously have no experience with.
You can't can't snipe? Too bad, no widowmaker in comp for you then, go practice her in QP.
10 hours insane, just make getting to Knight a requirement
I mean this genuinely, i would rather lose the CHANCE on having one decent player in comparison to the high probability to having multiple bad players. It's not worth it
It's hard for one player to carry a game, but its extremely easy for one player to lose it
