What is Gaming anymore
First of all the game is nice, I am especially fond with the characters; the designs, their abilities and just how it is really just them.

Though one thing I wanted to bring up is...through all my years in gaming, I am getting tired of people, who seems to forget or not seeing the joy of gaming.

I understand games like this is meant to get competitive but there are groups of people, who would care so much in winning, that they would demand and comment at others.

Games are games. Win or Lose, it is meant for joy, and if you can't have that joy then what's the point?

What are your thoughts?

I think you are correct, just stick to quick play for some casual fun, and this is one reason why introducing role queue is a bad idea too. Just turn of voice and if people are sweaty or toxic in chat, im guessing you can mute that too, or at least them.

Some games are designed for challenge, other for storytelling, others for pure entertainment. Games are meant to be fun, but fun can be had in different ways.

I think the real question is why are people replacing success and self confidence with winning in video games? Some people want to win, not for the reason of sport, but to "Be better" than other people which is just a sign of weakness and low self esteem because their life outside of games sucks. That's why some go as low as using cheats to "win" a game because they simply hate other people and themselves.

First thing I do in every online game:
Disable all online interactions, both voice & writen chat.

There is nothing anyone can say of importance to you, the game has pings & automated messages, that's enough.

Enjoy your improved experience.

Have you never ever played team sports? It is the same competetiveness even when playing for fun with people you know. And with people you do not know it is even worse. And as a person who played amateur basketball and done some amateur competitions with my team I will tell you that amateur players are far worse in terms of being competetive than professionals. They will cheat, play dirty and be rude even if the game was meant to be "for fun".
And in video games you get the same people. But the problem with video games is even bigger, because all are put into one basket. Amateurs and professionals alike. And these rude tryhards think they will surpass professionals eventually so they behave even worse than in sports. And additionally matchmaking is usually broken where, compared to sports i.e. footbalmatch, it is like one team can get Ronaldo randomly into team and the other one 12yo Timmy who rides a wheelchair. And funnily enought it would be Timmy who would curse at people and behave badly calling them noobs and loosers, not Ronaldo.

a means to avoid facing real life challenges.

with that comes facing your own persona.

hence the false mask of "i am good at the game, this is my entire personality and you threaten that by 'making me lose'"

I agree with you to an extend but to most people fun in games like this means winning. If you purely play for fun without any goal of improving or providing something for your team then this game might not be for you. Because no one who aims for the win will have fun with a bad teammate that doesn't care because he is only putting value in his personal fun. Ofcourse none of that justifies toxic behaviour but that's just the nature of these type of games. The harsh reality is that If you are underperforming or not picking what is needed for the team to win nobody will say: "Well at least he is having fun being 0/7 on Iron Man when we actually needed a second healer."

i play for fun. don't care about ranked

PvP games arent fun by design. We need some PvE events what Overwatch promised (and people were hyped about it) but didnt deliver.

I actually think your take is toxic. Why are you the arbiter of what is joyous? I enjoy winning, or at least having a competitive game where we didn't just lose at a CS screen. I find learning how to do things correctly and seeing results from doing so to be fun, so those who don't give a ♥♥♥♥ are adversaries in this search for joy that you're talking about.
