Tips on winning the Jeff Winter Splattoon Game Mode

I've been playing and enjoying that winter 4 vs 5 Jeff game mode a lot as of late. It actually helps me understand better how Jeff works, and I'd like to maybe share what I found with everyone here to those that might want some times. I'm first going to showcase me actually playing a match though, it'll help people understand just what I do.

I'll start with the basics I guess. First abilities, what they do and how to get the most out of them.

Stream Spit - It doesn't heal teammates in this mode, but it's honestly not needed. IT will hurt enemies, but I use it mostly to quickly cover the ground with my teams color spit. If your going for damage, the spit attack I feel does more quicker if you can keep hitting them directly, but it also has splash damage. The spit move can also cover a small bit of ground in your teams color spit, but not nearly as quickly as the stream spit does.

The Stream Spit has a lot of range too, don't underestimate how far you can cover ground with it.

Spit attack - Generally used only for attacking enemy Jeffs. It can out damage the underground swimming healing ability if you can keep landing direct hits with it too. You can use it to help your teams progression towards winning but I feel the Stream Spit move is just waaaay better at quickly covering the ground in your teams color.

Underground Swim - 1 word, abuse the out of this move. You get a smaller hit box, you heal while under ground, you can climb walls to get around quicker. It also has no cool down as far as I can tell, so it's very easy to abuse. Hell, I'd recommend using this to run from battles unless you know for a fact you can kill targets more then actually attacking the enemy. Your goal is to cover as much ground as possible, not kill enemies. You can get a bigger lead by just trying to cover more ground in your colored spit ( more so if you erase theirs on top of covering it ) then attacking the enemy.

Now the big one, Jeffs ultimate...
I will say now, don't spam it when you get it. I'm starting to enjoy holding it to when I actually need it now. Most of the time getting one kill isn't worth it when I could focus on covering more of the ground in my cover. But there are some neat tricks to this ultimate I feel people don't understand, as well as here's a few reasons to hold it and when to use it.

One thing to note as well, when you start the ult and are picking where Jeff will attack, he actually moves even faster now then even when your using that underground normal ability which is honestly insane. Makes it near impossible to out run the enemy Jeffs when they're trying to ult on you.

#1 use of it, save teammates... See an enemy swallow on of your teammates, well while their spinning around or just after, use the ultimate in front of them, you can actually grab them and anyone they have grabbed while they're moving around. This is an excellent way to not only eliminate enemies, save teammates and completely shut down them using their ultimate's. In the clip above that I posted, you see me save 2 team mates while grabbing 3 enemy Jeffs with mine. That's the most ideal time to use it!

#2 Saving yourself from an enemies ult. Believe it or not, if you use your ult the instant the circle comes up when they go to activate yours, your animation will nullify theirs. It won't grab them unfortunately but it'll keep you from being swallowed.

#3 When you can snag multiple Jeffs usually. The more you kill, the easier your team will be able to cover the ground thanks to having more active players.

For the map itself, a few pointers for here as well.

1. When spraying spit to cover ground, turn around quickly as possible while spamming the bubble ability ( doesn't seem to interrupt your stream ) because when it goes off it'll cover a small area around it.

2. I'd argue that staying at the very top of the map is the best place to cover. You get good coverage from enemies below you ( just be aware of them using the underground swim ability to climb walls ), you can see a lot of the area that you can cover from the top by that statue, the elevation helps you from getting hit with ultimates that are below you. It also is very difficult for enemy Jeffs who swallow you to reach the other side of the map to spit you into the death pits. You can't do it at the top either, since behind those walls were you'd think there would be death pits, there are invisible barriers that will keep you in the map.

One thing I'm not entirely sure is if covering the ground in your team color spit helps build your ultimate quicker or not. I keep forgetting to check lol, same with attacking enemies honestly....

Thanks for the writeup but does anyone actually know what the E does besides the obvious?(explode and cover ground)

Only use I've found for it is blocking enemy projectiles/as a wall of cover. Im not even sure if it does damage.

I generally only use it to cover spots usually. But it does damage I think and knock people around.

normally its his heal bubble.

for here its like they said you use it to cover ground, kno up foes, and yes it does damage to them.

yeet the jeffs you ate off the edge too, or take back to your spawn (it'll instantly kill them), if you said that sorry i missed it.

I think everyone I know that. Just keep in mind you can only do that on the lowest part of the map. The other side, which is a bit higher has invisible barriers that keep you from tossing people over the walls into the void.

Would be nice if we would even get enough gold missions to get decorations, current gold missions give you only 3 decorations. So im guessing we wont get the skin
