Especially since it also penalizes you if you instantly leave as soon you get dropped in still in the prep phase.
Explain please. Seems like a logical response to OP who "just wants to leave" in a match he signed up to play.
Like someone said, if the game has too many bots and isn't fun to play that match because you didn't queued for a game vs AI.
Or what i wrote that you get dropped into a game and want to/have to leave instantly. So as soon you get into the hero select in the prep. phase, you instantly leave. Not harming the game at all but still get the penalty.
Or leaving doom matches where you again literally don't harm anyone because it is a deathmatch. Not even TDM.
Or if you get thrown into an already ongoing game which is already about to end so you leave because you don't want to waste your time. (actually this should issue with matchmaking should be also fixed by devs)
Leaver penalty should really only exist in comp. And even there only if the game has already started.
Overwatch had the same issue after launch and they too needed time to figure out how to finetune leaver penalties.
That's fair, I was just replying to OP. it's fair that these things may have been brought up prior. I'd still disagree about the ability to leave QP as you'd see an entire team leave after losing first point. I actually liked how Paladins does/did their leaver penalty. I haven't played in years so I assume it's the same. In that instance, anyone who left a match was unable to queue up for a new match until the one that they left concluded. If they rage quit too many times, they still got their leaver penalties.
I found that this did mitigate lots of players from abandoning quick play matches, though it could still happen. It also ensured that queuing up for a match always resulted in a fresh game.
Well i have never seen an entire team to leave. But maybe i was only lucky. But as i noticed the game is still popular and played by enough people that games get backfilled with people in no time. (might change between regions)
But good that you brought up the system from paladins because that was now the 1st example which came to my mind. That most games which had this system in place were the most fair ones.
But again the system Overwatch was doing (dunno if still the case. Used to love OW, but I can't stand OW2 so not playing anymore) that everyone could leave the game till the game was still in pre-game preparation /hero pick phase.
Without penalty.
I actually didn't know that about OW having played it for years. I also left in OW2 because.... it's OW2 hahah. Been itching for a good hero shooter ever since. I appreciate you taking the time to explain your responses though. Nice to actually have civil conversation on the forums
you either want quickplay to be casual or you dont, in either case its get rid of leaver penalty or play your role properly. and i dont mean, play what you want. play with atleast some intent to win the game. this means change characters to better counter enemy composition.
looking at you DPS mains who refuse to listen to anyone and think you can 1v6 every corner.
