Why penalty for leaving Quick Play?
In ranked I'm 100% pro penalty but why quick play? Sometimes you just want to leave, so why put a penalty on quick play?

If you're getting rolled by a pre-made, why not just throw out the option, even with the nuclear statement "i'm leaving regardless, at least this way it's not a surprise"?

Playing as a solo strategist, watching my PUG (and then me) get wasted is no fun, but neither is getting pulled into a match in progress that's already a clear loss.

Better to bring it to an end, one way or the other.

The problem with concede / surrender a match is always the ego of many players.
1.000 years ago, when I was still playing League it was the same. Always the ego andys that can't accept that your team is losing and won't press YES for surrender.

score is 0-30+ at 15 min in the game and team goes "never surrender in ranked" /facepalm

In short your feelings don't matter, and its about damn time a game said so.

So they force a behaviour that could relate to: I stand AFK at spawn? Not sure that is better :ageividlevillager:

I mean the penalty for that is the same or worse. They'd just report it as a thrower.

Someone else comes in a fills for you so just having everyone decide they want to give up does indeed ruin it for more than 11 people but 12.

Then the others will report you for AFK/throwing. If you joined a match and absolutely cannot, or dont want, to continue it then quit and take your punishment. Otherwise if you join a match you see it through. This isnt hard to wrap your head around.

I feel like role queue would help here. A lot of these really stupid, uneven stomps are because nobody on the team was willing to lose tank chicken and you've got some stupid comp like 0-4-2 or something. Nothing makes me want to leave more than realizing that if I don't solo tank, we won't have a tank at all (bonus points if we'll also be down a support since that's probably what I was playing before).
all these so called "pro" premade players all try to make up stupid crap about role queue so that the devs won't add it. though they only do it cause they know their only advantage will be gone when they have to face a balanced team as premades instead of total random BS that they can stomp.

also devs said they don't wanna add role queue. but if they don't wanna add it they should at least remove premade from ranked.
You leave too many games with that poor attitude and you'll have rubbed your last duck, sir.

Ill be honest, i would want maybe no penalty or a reduced one since currently half the time i load up the game, i am dealing with frame issues so im stuck with either leaving and taking a penalty or sticking out the game and giving my team a rubbish player
Agree with the op. There should be no penalty

Yea one guys argument was "because quickplay doesn't mean you're allowed to ruin the game for your team", but so many players will ruin it just by not playing a competitive team comp. Pretty sure reporting people for picking 5 duelists isn't a "my entire team is throwing" bannable report, but that's what it is. If people aren't willing to play tanks and healers they're throwing the game and 1 player trying to flex to fix that comp isn't going to work, they can't play both healers and both tanks by themself.

"But I want to practice a duelist in quickplay" You aren't practicing in a correct environment if your team comp is trash lol. Might as well just practice vs AI at that point.
because they want to discourage leaving matches
A team is still disadvantaged in QM when you leave.
Kinda valid.

In OW people would leave and join constantly
It was gross.

Because quitters are bad either way.
Quickplay is for casuals quit whining. IF my team is moronic, doesn't counter the enemy team in any way, zero teamups, everyone running after kills. I should be able to leave, it is why i'm in Quickplay not playing Ranked.

Technically speaking, Vs AI is the actual casual mode. You can leave it whenever you want. I forget if it has back fill though, or does it just add in a bot to replace the player who left? It's definitely far more casual then Quickplay feels that's for sure... Bot doesn't stomp you into the ground like you get in Quickplay.

Quickplay does not give you the right to troll, throw, and ruin the game for others.

There are 12 people in the match. 5 are on your team, what gives you the right to wreck the match for the other 5 people on your team that might want to actually play and practice something instead of troll and throw because "haha it's quickplay"

If you want to troll and throw, go face off against AI, you literally have a mode where you can do that without any problems and you can leave whenever.

It's a good thing the penalty exists, and it's even better that the developers are giving out temporary bans for people who troll and throw matches in quickplay.
